Is this rubbish spec then ? I'm after a 22" ish widescreen monitor. I know to look for response time being under 8ms, and contrast ratio is important, but what else is there to look out for ?

Heat from me btw

Seems I missed the Dell 24" for £204 the other day, but I am hot for a bigger screen so this could be the one. I know this is nothing like the Dell (no HD and all that) but it's a lot cheaper too... and with DVI. I was having troiuble justifying, even to myself - let alone the Mrs, spending £204 on a monitor when I have a perfectly good 19" one.

2% Quidco too!!

I had one of these briefly, the contrast and viewing angles were poor and the stand wasn't great but the monitor was perfectly usable, which is probably all you can expect at this price point.

Specs look ok.

Voted hot .

Using either a scaler, or a HDMI to DVI converter

Be very careful when you buy from Dabs.com (or BT.Shop). Make sure you only pay with a credit card which offers fraud protection. Only pay through Dabs checkout (not via Paypal or Google). Read the previous Dabs.com threads here on HotUK for more info.

The contrast ratio is terrible, 1000:1 is very poor.

I recently bought a Samsung 22" monitor for about £30 more. Contrast ratio is 8000:1 resulting in a superb picture thats really sharp.

If you use your computer a lot, or to play games on, id advise getting something a lot better than this one.

Pray tell, what do you mean? :? I've been using them for many many years without any issues.

Does anyone know if this monitor is HDCP compliant?

Love the price - might get a couple and flog my old Dell monitors on Fleabay. Left too much rep already today, but thanks for the post!

If that picture is anything to go by, then I have one of these under the AvanHard moniker. I paid £115 about 8 months ago, so the price has not dropped since, really.

As stated before, it was just about worth its money then. Probably less so, now. Colours and contrast are tolerable, but no match for Dell. Has both DVI and Dsub ports, but the DVI is fussy and refuses to work with a Mac Mini for some reason, which had previously run a 24" monitor at full 1920x1200 resolution.

The best thing about it is that it is surprisingly light for its size, so it's easy to move around if you need to.

Ordered a few of these for work from Dabs and they all came in with dead pixels!
#24
I have to say...the Dell is a Thing of Beauty
#25
is the acer any good as it doesn't have DVI input, whats the panel used???

I couldn't find any mention of what panel the V243W uses, but as that appears to be the normal price for it (dabs aren't even the cheapest) it's not going to be anything special.

EDIT: Although, it does mention the refresh rate at maximum resolution is 75hz which is unusual.

Just wondered is this one wall mountable is it VESA they call it?
