Description

The Solid Series SSD is the quality choice for value-conscious upgraders looking to add the benefits of solid state architechture without the higher price premiums. OCZ Solid Series Solid State Drives enable enhanced productivity in everyday computing and multi-tasking applications.

Perfect for the latest generation of performance notebooks, the Solid Series is ideal for energy-efficient mobile computing to extend battery life, decreased access time, and provide a durable alternative to conventional hard disc drives with superior shock resistance.

High capacities and low power consuming NAND flash technology provide the necessary performance and battery life boosts generated by the proliferation of mobile gaming and new ultra-thin laptops. With mainstream access and seek times combined with excellent reliability, the OCZ Solid Series SSDs are the answer for consumers demanding this latest storage technology at an affordable price.

The addition of a mini-USB port also makes it possible for customers in the field to update the Solid Series' firmware should new versions become available, to further enhance compatibility or performance with future platforms.

Solid series SSD drives are available in capacities of 30GB, 60GB, and 120GB and deliver up to an incredible 155 MB/s and 90 MB/s read/write speeds and seek times of less than 0.35ms, making the Solid series up to 10x as fast on a seek-time basis than the best performing 2.5" HDDs on the market, all while consuming 50% less power. Current generation SSD drives are designed and optimized for the latest mobile platforms and are not recommended for use in laptops models purchased prior to 2007.

The drives feature a durable yet lightweight alloy housing, and because OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, the drives are not prone to damage from common mishandling. Designed for ultimate reliability, these SSDs have an excellent 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. All Solid Series SSD drives come backed a two year warranty and OCZ's legendary service and support.

Pre Order, Release on 12/1/2009. This is the cheapest per GB SSD you will find right now
#2
'Main Specification' says '30GB'.

So which is it? 30GB or 120GB?
#3
Think I will wait a year until they £22.99.

Wait for vertex!

Plus dont know why there is a relase date on these, they have been out a while. Overclockers, Ebuyer etc have sold them. Plus this is the price they are. Defo anyone considering an OCZ drive, wait for vertex.

It's to early to dip your toe into the SSD market i think, unless you love some of the fastest kit about.& have cash to burn

Anyone interested in the Vertex, it is out next week. But i suggest to wait for reviews before you purchase the new SSDs fro OCZ. There was a lot of issue's with their previous model v1 and v2's. So it would be silly to wait big money on something that may cause you problems :)
