with no built in speakers, there's very little point in having HDMI, after all DVI is the same minus the ability to transmit sound. And this comes with a DVI cable and what GPU doesn't have a DVI port these days?

I have the 24" model and love it.

I've got 2 of these at work. Great screens, only down side for home use is that a HDMI would have been nice for the price. Heat added!

Quite, DVI is perfectly acceptable as it is essentially HDMI without the audio connectivity, which isn't needed on a monitor without speakers.

Agreed. I don't see why people complain about the lack of HDMI on a monitor unless they want to use the built in speakers - which this doesn't have - and built in speakers sound like crap anyway.

But HDMI also has HDCP so you won't be able to play flagged HD content. (Unless you resort to illegal means to defeat it.)

    As does DVI-D

HDCP compliant. Blurays play fine on PowerDVD

Monitors that have dvi and hdmi are appreciated, as it allows quick connection of multiple units, eg a tower and a slate

Never knew DVI could match the data rate for HDMI. Thanks for the heads up!

    DVI IS HDMI without sound.

Well a lot of devices have their own outputs for speakers, like if you want to hook this up to a freeview box or something. But of course, you can just use a HDMI to DVI cable if that is the case, if you don't mind cable-swapping when you need to switch between that and the computer.

Why cable swap? this has DisplayPort also, which can be converted to DVI

Decent Display port monitors are usually very pricey. Great deal!

Bought one of these from Amazon last week but found that it sometimes made a high pitched ringing noise when it was switched off, the only way to stop it was to unplug it, bought it for a bedroom but the noise was too loud to keep unfortunately.
