Most 24" screens aren't exactly 24" :p

Crazy price, but a very dubious native/static contrast ratio of 2500:1 which I highly doubt it correct...

Also it seems to be a glossy screen according to this site?
http://product.yesky.com/picture/573/573811/1466554.shtml

I know a lot of people aren't too keen on it... definitely not recommend if the monitor is facing a constant light source...

Whilst not proof, other companies selling this also quote 2,500 typical contrast ratio. just google "E2436VWa contrast typical"

The spec is a little odd. Googling around, even on the AOC site the spec seems to change. AOC site only seems to mention the dynamic contrast so no help there.

Also finding it difficult to find any in depth reviews. Anyone else faired better?

the photo posted here doesn't look like the screen is reflective so not really sure what to make of the other pictures.

One thing I did find out was the 2436V is a truly terrible monitor with awful viewing angles. The 2436VW doesn't suffer those same problems but a lot of comments I've read confuse the two screens.
#9
any idea what inputs this has please?
#10
yea - could be a pup or a real bargain - this review mentions contrast of 2000000:1 http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-10728-view-aoc-e2236swa-and-e2236vwa-and-e2436vwa.html

Can't seem to find any reviews. I am tempted but find specs can be misleading and prefer to have reviews.

I don't pay interest to any monitors dynamic contrast as the feature goes straight off. I went through months of constant headaches, which stopped the day I turned it off on my current monitor!

Also, I can confidently say, this monitor most definitely doesn't have a static ratio of 2500:1. Even top end £800+ professional monitors don't go over 1000:1.

That being said, the outer chassis of this is very nice, touch controls, piano black finish... it definitely looks nice. The question is, have they just done this to house the cheapest of cheap internals?
But this is the cheapest 24" LED Backlit Monitor I've seen by a good £30. Probably worth a shot if you're after a 24" screen...

a quick google of "2500 typical contrast ratio" found some LCD's with contrast ratios that high (I check to make sure they were talking about typical not dynamic) but on 32" and 42" TVs not monitors. But it seems you can get this level of contrast ratio.

see that it's DVI-D but wonder if it's HDCP for PS3 use....

For what its worth, the official product page.

http://www.aoc-europe.com/no_cache/en/monitors.html?useCacheHash=1&showUid=36

It seems to be from their value range. A few other sites selling it around £120. The gallery shows its not a glossy screen.

A tempting deal this!

no hdcp from your link techpops :( I need more ps3 gaming! only 360 works via VGA in my current one.

Was just about to post it was as I'd read it was on another site. I guess I'd take the AOC page over some random review though.

does seem strange that it is value LCD but has a reported very non-value 2500 typical contrast ratio. Still a great price irrespective, but really need a decent review to know if it is really any good.

We sell these AOC screens at work. Very poor viewing angles and awful screen quality. Good price for the size but I only recommend for basic office use. If gaming or films is your thing buy a better but smaller screen.

I used some serious scientific tools to work out that its really 1000:1

Here's the same screen at Novatech:

Ignore the good reviews, it really is poor compared to the other screens we have on display from the likes of Samsung and even HannsG. I would recommend this intead:

That doesn't look like the same screen. Response time is different and so is the dynamic contrast. No mention of LED either.

Hmm... yes you can.

I would prefer a better quality 22" screen with the same resolution than a 24" screen that is awful. Plenty of good 22" screens have been available at this price and less :)

anyone bought one ?
#35
I bought one of these monitors and to be honest the quality isnt bad at all. I play all the latest games and there really isnt an issue with that. I do have an issue though....Its not LED Backlit. They sent me the 2436VWA which is a standard lcd...I have brought this to their attention and will let you know the reponse I get. They should either send what I have paid for or sort out their dodgy advertising.....Keep watching!!

If they haven't sent you the right item for whatever reason, mix up etc under the sale of goods act an item must be "as described" so don't worry they have no grounds for any argument..
