That only applies to the US version, in the UK it has the same caffeine content as Pepsi and Diet Pepsi. It's marketed as having maximum flavour whilst not containing any sugar, where as most other sugar free drinks have little flavour.
Diet Pepsi = DIet Coke
Pepsi Max = Coke Zero
Diet Pepsi = DIet Coke
Pepsi Max = Coke Zero
Indeed. Maybe not quite equal, but more equal to the corresponding beverage from the competitor than to a different one from the same company. I like, only problem is that it is sometimes hard to get here, especially Pepsi Max Cherry.
Do the maths, this is 67p per litre, while most deals (4x330ml for a pound) are 75p per litre.
I only call things "lovely" if they ARE lovely :)
Diet Pepsi = DIet Coke = Pepsi Max = Coke Zero
corrected
Diet marketed to Women
Max/Zero marketed to Men

Nothing tastes better with such a low calorie/sugar count.
Diet Coke and Coke Zero are cheap and tasteless.
