I've never tried this but i've read some excellent reviews so i think i'll get a pack in for Christmas.
http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/Grafen_Walder_Premium_Pils__5293072

According to the Lidl promo leaflet this is usually £18 a pack, i don't know if that's true or not but it certainly seems a good price at £1 a litre.

And dont forget that Sunday Express (c£1.30) with £5 off £30 spending at Lidl this week coupon. Was posted earlier on here (and I'd noticed in newsagent).

I would agree, I was astounded when I had some. Now I drink it all the time at the In-Laws in France!

This stuff is lovely, far better than the equivalent that you'd get in a supermarket (Carling/Fosters etc).
#5
That Ciao review...I'd be more impressed if there weren't a lot of 5* reviews for fosters on the same site.
#6
I find it a little wheaty for me. It's alright...
#7
I also drink this stuff when in France, its about 30p a can.
#8
its quite good really. fosters is 2 for £14 at asda at the moment but they're only 440ml. these are 500ml. works out at 13.2 litres of fosters for £14 or 12 litres of this at lidl for £12. not a great deal of difference but if you haven't tried it it's worth go!

Actually it's mediocre at best and is usually perceived as hobo beer in germany. There is worse tho.

Alcohol is a social evil, destroyer of families and a killer; so a cold vote from me.

You are getting a bit boring, i like a drink at the weekend but i'm no destroyer of my family or a killer.

Um, you could say the same about numerous things if they are taken in excess. A few examples:

Food, water (will kill you if you drink too much!), prescription medicines, Christmas, gambling and the internet.

In fact most things are dangerous if you go too far.

Alcoholism is a disease and a terrible thing. Someone close to me died in his mid 40's of that disease but I do not blame the alcohol. I blame the society we live in and his personal issues that drove him to drink.

Like most pleasures in life, alcohol should be "enjoyed responsibly". Not binged, not treated as some mystical and attractive drug or a rite of passage. Statements like yours do little to solve the problem, they just harden the battle lines and stop our society from learning how to deal with it properly.

Still gives a great buzz though. Give booze a chance. You might like it.

Not a big fan of lagers to be honest. Some I can just about bear and one or two are quite nice.

As a bitter drinker I found this lager horrible. :-/

Your gags are getting old tpol, haven't you got any new material?
#25
these are very nice beers, even better for the price
#26
Maybe tpol should get back on his Enterprise and boldly go where no tpal's have gone before and have a can or two :)

I love pilsner but will try a can before shelling out for a box. 24 for £12 = 50p a tin.

Is it wife beater quality or what ?

That's right. This stuff costs less than 20p a can in German Lidl and Aldi's whilst the the likes of Beck's and Bitburger are are about 40p a can. Not so much of a good deal when you look at it that way.

Well I live in France and we buy it for 34 cents a tin! So near enough 30p

Not sure about this... Deposit alone is 22p - at current exchange rates, so I am sure it's more expensive...

Go back to bed m8.

I think YOU have got out the wrong side of bed haven't you ? :? I mean crikey the guy only had an OPINION the beer was a little too wheaty for him (hence why there are loads of different beer types out there to suit differing tastes). I happen to like this beer, but his comment was hardly belittling the deal now was it?
#35
I had some of this when it was 50p per can a few months ago, it is a little on the strong side but I generally enjoyed it.

I wasn't aware we were supposed to vote cold for these reasons? Your a tit

I think this is €0.78 a litre at a LIDL near me (western France).

It's got a good malt base, a bit of structure and some real flavour. Streets ahead of the normal generic euro-fizz lagers.

I'd imagine if you are a brewed-in-england carlsberg/fosters type drinker this will come as something of a surprise.
#39
Thing is though, we're not in france

Your average wife beating stella drinker should be able to enjoy this... then punch an old lady in the eye socket

Personally i cant wait
