Hi all,

Ok. I remember the amount of questions we had with a recent post which was simular to this so ill try and post as much info as possible.

For people who currently have a xbox 360 gold subscription, there is a deal for you to renew your subscription for 24 months with 15% off their normal renewal price and you'll get 1600 free points too.

It is a dashboard only deal which you should be able to see under 'Spotlight' on the dashboard. Below is the information it provides:

Set up your upcoming gold renewal at a lower price now.

24-Month gold for only £67 (15% off) + 1600 free points.

Few points to mention from the small print...

* Offer is not available to users currently on a promotional Gold subscription. So I for example would not be able to use this deal because I recently used the Halo Reach subscription renewal offer.

* The Microsoft points will be deposited into your account 6-8 weeks after the offer end date, and must be used by 30th June 2011.

* Your card will be charged for renewal only at the end of your current subscription term.

Now what most people will ask is if it will automatically renew your subscription after the 2 years are up and the answer is most probably yes. But it doesnt stop you from cancelling before that renewal is due. I've heard a lot of people say how difficult it is to cancel your subscription with Microsoft but i've never tried so I wouldnt know.

This seems a good offer anyway for people who know they will be on Xbox live for the next 2 years, who use the MS points and renew their subscription through the dashboard as they charge £39.99 for a yearly subscription. Obviously its not a good deal for people who pay by the pre-paid cards for around £35 and dont use MS points.

Cheers. :)

Seems like a big outlay just to save £3-£4 over 2 years.

The points are worth £13 at MS prices, £33.50 for membership is expensive when you look at the offers on recently (£29 on Amazon, £23 on XBox Live)

Each to their own I suppose.

Not a bad deal but hardly great.

MS points converter tells me 1600 points is worth £13.71 but that is assuming points were purchased at £17.99 not the £15 that everyone can get them for so probably more like £11.50

As I said, if you buy the cards for renewal then yeah it wont save you much. But I know a few friends who just renew theirs automatically through Microsoft who I think still charge £40 a year so its a good deal if you are one of those people.

Cheers :)

If the points were 2100 then i think this might be worthwhile doing.

Voted hot anyways

I think it's a pretty good deal (just posted duplicate!). Renewing gold doesn't seem as cheap as it used to be, I don't know what other deals there may have been but I got it for £30 a while back, and when I looked for somebody else recently the cheapest I could find was about £33-35.
1600 points thrown in seems pretty good.

I've taken the offer up, means now I don't have to worry about paying for live until March 2013. The points will come in handy too :)

Thought i would just say if you can find live for 12months for £23 well done!!!!! I spent about 2 hours looking last week and the cheapest I could find was £27.99, (yes 12 months ago I got it for 23.99 but prices have gone up loads because of the economy - think MS sent out a press release about this). With this deal it works out at £33.50 a year and even if you take it as £10 for 1600 points its £27.50 per year, so a great deal in the present climate. And you don't have to worry about it for 2 years - thats worth at least a tenner to me as I normally spent an hour searching for the best price every year.
