GAME are currently offering 25% extra of your total trade in value if you pre order any game and place a £5 deposit. I traded in about 30 xbox games for £102 then pre ordered gta v and got £132.50 instead. walked away with a PS3 super slim 12Gb, littlebigplanet 2, extra sony Dualshock 3, Amazing Spiderman HD download and 30 day PSN+ for £28.50 :)

£102 / 30 = £3.40 per game. I really hope you traded in 30 copies of Kameo...

I understand that you traded in 30 Xbox games and got £132.50 + £5 deposit, which makes sense. But how did you managed to get 30 games for £28.50 it puzzels me.

Also it is worth to say that you can do the same if you trade in against digital purchase (like PSN or Xbox credit).

He obviously spent the credit note and cash on the PS3 bundle...

I traded 30 games which would have given me £102 trade.
By preordering a game they gave me an extra 25% = £132.50
paid £5 deposit which gave me £128.50 trade value.
Bought PS3 bundle priced at £159.99...

I work for Game and stores that do this **** me off, makes others look bad!

The deal is meant to be you get 25% extra on your trade in, when you come back to buy the game you placed a deposit on, not when you place the deposit.

Staff need to get 1 deposit per £250 they take on the till, and its freaking hard, unless they abuse deals like this.

Good deal, if you can get it :)

the leaflet I have from GAME states 'Get 25 % extra trade in value when you make a pre-order or deposit on any game'

If anything, it makes GAME look better. People think lowly of GAME because of their atrocious prices, but when they do more and more offers like this, people begin to like them more and more.

But alot of game trade in prices +25% isn't as much as other places.

I recently went to game, took my cex print out as game undercut them by £17 on the 4 items i had.
#9
Game are expensive and you can usually get a much better deal looking around.
#10
We just traded in a load of games and usually use Amazon but Game seem better right now on trade ins and we also got this offer and it bumps up your trade in price ! good deal
#11
I got 25% for trading in towards any digital item (ie a £5 PSN card). Then you could use rest of the credit on anything else. Might be useful.

This. My brother tried to do it when he ordered Tomb Raider but they wouldn't do it, so this deal is very much store/sales assistant specific.

I have never understood people who trade in at game. £132 for THIRTY games?? Think i'd rather take a couple more shifts at work and keep the games for a rainy day

£102 for 30 games, GAME ripped you off unless they were utter trash.
#16
if they beat a trade in price by £1 will they also give the extra 25% for a pre-order ?

usually no, from what I was told but they did for me at the blackpool store on a previous deal (it was the trade 4 in get an extra £10 deal) even with that deal cex was still £2 more trade in so I just did that, and was surprised when I ended up getting the game I was trading in for nothong plus £5.01 gift gard when I should have put a few pound to the game.

Would be worth checking how much you'd get by getting them to price match + £1 to CEX's price. You wouldn't be able to get both the extra £1 and the 25% extra, but I'm guessing a lot of the time, CEX will have a significantly better price and even with the extra 25% at Game, you'd still be better off getting Game to price match instead. :p

That's the managers making the best of a bad situation eventually when what's left of the stock holders start asking questions it will come back to bite them, it doesn't help that some of the people working in store are a little corrupt withholding games from general sale for themselves (happened to me at the Barry store), that said there are some great guys that work at a few of the other Game stores I know that always try their best, sadly it's always the good guys that get laid off though.

^ WTF, this sounds like the UK equivalent of east asian sweat shops, you know like those telesales companies where if you don't make enough conversions in a time period you get a "discussion", then if you don't make the target a couple more times you're out the door.

Sad times if GAME is at this level....

Curry's Electrical store was the same when I worked for them don't meet the sales targets meeting with the manager.

I couldn't bare to part with 30 games at just over £3 each. Obviously items depreciate but really..

Good deal, shame Taunton lost both it's Gamestation and then a few weeks ago it's GAME aswell :(

25% trade in but more than likely they reduced all the trade in prices to compensate. They've always been a bunch of sneaky.....

I find that 99% of the time I get more by getting game to price match cex
#28
did you check how much cash you would have got for your list of games at CEX as game rip you off for trade in as it is even before the 25% extra

The games weren't trash some we're hailed as classics but I didn't want them taking up space, didn't/won't play them again and these days don't have the time or patience to walk around with 'about 30' (think it was nearer 26/27) xbox games in a bag. the extra £30 meant the difference between walking away with the new Tomb Raider and some in store credit and coming away with two hot deals (including the Ps3 bundle). People in here are far too judgemental. GAME was the easy option snd I suffered the consequences. gladly.
#30
It's pretty much the same in every sales shop if you don't hit targets.

Anyhow gotta do what's gotta be done to hit target esp if it benefits a customer.
#31
I don't understand why they gave you £132.50 since £102 + 25% = £127.50

Well said.

I'd take that 12gb PS3 back, even one game install will fill that thing to the brim. The likes of Skyrim are completely unplayable on that PS3 as i had a couple of people bring em back to my work for that reason.
suspended#34
Can't believe people actually trade in their games to that joke of a company, I have had them offer me games at £2 where ASDA will give me around £10.
#35
I took advantage of this recently, traded in a five year old 360, three controllers and one game. Got a brand new PS3 for £30.

Cheaper to add a hard drive yourself than pay for the next model up. Very easy to do and doesn't void the warrantee.

The best bit is game will sell those games on for about £10 each making double what they have you lol!!

That's called 'retail', it's how shops stay in business you know.
Buying stuff cheaper than they sell it. It's been going on a while.

I've met some really nice, professional sales pople at GAME. It sounds they're being treated like crap and that wasn't even the topic at hand. :/

You don't understand me? I picked up RE6 for £15 from CeX, traded in that and my unplayed Borderlands 2 for Tomb Raider. I know I could've got Tomb Raider outright for £30 online and/or RE6 for cheaper but even for convenience and wanting to play Tomb Raider ASAP, it's a decent deal for a high street purchase.

Tried this when I wanted my PS3 Bundle and they refused because my store said "can only trade it in towards the pre-order on the day its released." Some stores are different so its obviously worth a try.
