Orange have now increased what they called perk discount from 10% to 25%.
Applies to all NEW and renewal phone contracts and NOW applies to the iphone!!
iphone 4 16 GB - £69 (24 month contract)

This discount is for people that work for NHS, police, councils teachers
All you need is a recent wage slip.
Well worth calling into Orange shops take your wage slip.
Also can use for 5 friends or family so you don't necessarily need to work for one of the companies as long as you have someone's recent wageslip. Includes iPhone which will beat any deal on the market I'm sure!

£35/month becomes £26.25.
handset price was £69 for 24 month contract

Think is unfair on the normal everyday hard working public. Don't teachers etc.... Already get super pensions, in case of police etc. Get to retire early. Public sector workers are getting paid more than the private sector. And us the normal Joe bloggs worker has to pay for all this and then we don't even get the perk of a mobile line discount. Last person who needs this deal is a public worker.

"Chill Winston" - public sector pay freeze - heard about that? Public sector cuts?
You're more than welcome to come work in the hospital I work at..it ain't all Gravy!
anyway friends and family - so someone who can get the deal can sign up up to 5 other non-NHS people.

Before you go off on one, the discounts are for employees of companies/organisations who use Orange for their business contracts, and includes banks, supermarkets, high street stores etc. as well as public sector.

If you work for a major company, go in and ask. They have a list in store.

I've also heard of Perks discounts given for workers in the same area/complex as the Orange store, such as malls or city centres. Also, as nijjyp says, you can use friends and family to get the discount.

Why can't they just offer the discount to everybody. Why penalise people or make it tricky to get a deal.

I have heardnof the public sector pay freeze. What about in the private sector many workers are still on 4 day weeks and haven't had a rise since the credit crunch started. Never mind going on strike like teachers maybe doing as they may have to work until they are 65. Poor dears. If they want to retire early put more of your own money into a pension pot like we have to.

Good to see that good old grumpy gits are still alive & kicking.
For your info the NHS pension scheme has changed twice in the last 5 yrs & that means the agreement I signed up to has been sabotaged by our governments. Pay more in get less out work longer. As for pay freezes in the private sector you are very wrong the private sector has had a far larger pay increase yr on yr for the last 3 yrs. My job also is far better paid in the private sector. I can assure you that your ignorance towards pension benefits NHS & Teachers get have been portrayed to you by a tory led press. Civil servants on the other hand have a better pension than NHS staff and pay a nominal contribution for it. If you have ever stopped to wonder why that is its because the civil servants make the laws up for the government. Also the NHS will be something I honestly hope you never need to use because when Cameroons mob are finished there wont be one.

You've put a picture of iphone4 so i take it its £69 for the 16gb model. £69 seems too good to be true if this is the case. Might be worth adding to your description. Heat added.

Not saying everything is perfect but don't know if you can remember when Gordon brown was chancellor he changed the tax relief on all private pensions basically taking billions off the everyday worker like myself who was saving up. To keep it to the levels that was expected we had to put in something like an extra 30% minimum . All I am saying is welcome to the real world. I know teachers and they get paid £25000 plus a year. Get very generous holidays plus pension benefits. I know everybody in the nhs does not get over paid but there is so many managers now because the last government put more money in but never ensured it went to frontline services, so we now have an endless trail of pen pushers and not enough nurses etc..... What I am mainly saying though is the country is bust and why should everybody in the private sector fund all your pensions etc...... We can't afford it and the sooner everybody realises this the better. Also if your job pays better in private sector why don't you get a job in the private sector. Or does it pay better before you start taking away your pension perks etc..

I dont know why you think that private sector workers are funding this Digsby, if Orange stopped the discount the price wouldnt go down for everyone else, Orange would make more profit. You're not paying more because public sector workers get this discount.

is this deal instore only?

I'm not saying orange are funding this. Saying why should this deal just be for public workers.
#13

Do you pay 14% of your wage into a pension ? as the police officers do, they already pay 11% so yeah i think they should retire early ! and get a helping hand here and there

Thanks op, I'll let my other half know so that she can put the extra cash she might save towards her pension...

I pay enough buy why should a police worker be able to work for 25years and then claim their pension.. Basically meaning you can retire 45 if you join at 20yo. Have no problem with their being a pension pot but everything should be brought into line and retire at the national retirement age. Basically if anybody on here put 11 to 14% of their wages into a private pension form the age of 20 for 25years they would not get anywhere near enough to be able to retire on. If I worked for 25years then packed up, would you I assume as a public worker pay for me to sit on my ass for the next 30 to 40 years. No you wouldn't. So why should we pay you to sit on ur ass

Digby the reason i dont work in the private sector is exactly the same as working in the NHS NO JOBS ANYWHERE but instead of being bitter i take great pride in contributing to helping others on the frontline. For some people its not all about money or silly phone deals!!! by the way I live in N.Ireland and most of the deals offered on everything are usually for England Scotland & Wales so going by your logic I should move to one of those places and sit on my **** and retire with a pension. Grow up

We will have to agree to disagree. But nobody can surely claim that to help sort the countries financial problems out everybody should work until the proper retirement age of 65.

not wanting to go on but these issues werent caused by the private sector but by bailing out the banks and fighting wars in countries that are or were of no threat to the uk.

Is this a deal about a phone, or about the state of the government and country?
Why do all the threads on here become railroaded?
If the offer is genuine then it's a good deal and even those who work for companies like B&Q get the discount so it's nothing to do with being exclusive to the public sector.
Sometimes people on here need no reason to sabotage a thread.

last night this deal was in the 20's and going up, now its gone down to 7?!? Why are people voting cold? This is a good deal, fair enough its not for everyone but neither was the moon cup when it was on here and that got more heat! oO
You vote on if it is a good deal or not, not if you agree with the current politics of key worker benefits. I for one aren't entitled to this but am looking to make a friends with a nurse/teacher/policeman! LOL ;) (Tongue firmly in cheek)
