Jump to unread Post a CommentThe original version of my post was several paras long and commented on this, yet when I submitted it I had been logged out and lost it all, and I couldn't be bothered to retype it all. With Tesco vouchers its £37.50 in Clubcard vouchers per person. For a family of 5 (like mine) this would be £187.50 in Clubcard vouchers, however, as you can get other things for 4 x the face value of the vouchers in Tesco Clubcard Deals, you could use those vouchers for £750 elsewhere. I prefer to use my Clubcard vouchers elsewhere and bought the Merlin Pass for £360 for a family of 5. The 12mths run from when you collect and activate the pass by the way. If you could use your Clubcard vouchers for 25% of £360, then they would be a great deal.
good points made
Online is only giving 20% :x
Agree. Clubcard deal better:

£37.50 in vouchers gets you 1 pass. It's £120 for a single from Merlin Website (that's inclusive of 20% discount).
That works out to £150 for a family of four in clubcard vouchers when online price is £320.
Not all clubcard deals are real savings but this one looks real to me.

The discount over the phone is 25% - which is 5% more than the on-line discount.
Sorry - no idea. Because you need to do it over the phone they can expire it at anytime, because you never see any terms and conditions.

But see the post above. Clubcard deals are supposed to be worth 4 x the value of the vouchers, which is where the 25% comes from. If you are paying £150 in Clubcard vouchers, you are effectively paying £600 for the pass rather than £300 (nb the phone deal is cheaper than booking on-line) for a family of 4. Of course if you can't find other uses for your Tesco vouchers then you might as well use them on this.
Yeah I know about the £10 for £40. Trouble is most don't work out that way anyway as you can usually get a good price online, so really savings usually equate to about 50% (e.g. Holidays and RAC membership) and that's true of Merlin passes too.
The only deals I have really thought were saving the whole 10 for 40 are the restaurant deals. Strada for example where you are actually getting the meal for 25% of the menu price. So I don't really consider the 50% saving a waste of the vouchers...just par for the course really. Another good one was from the Tesco wine club (that's £20 for £10)...again spookily 50%.

Another example would be Butlins holidays, online prices are heavily discounted, whereas if u pay via Tesco vouchers, u pay the full price
BUT, for this deal AND all the others, bear in mind u r not actually PAYING anything
Yes, I can see the argument that £10 of vouchers gets u £40 of meal as against only £20 of Merlin pass, but without the Deals vouchers, we couldn't afford the Merlin Passes (and of course, we wouldn't ever be spending £600 on eating out!!!)
So, this is a vey good deal for those that can afford it - heat added

Err...I think I agree! You voting this deal hot (which is not clubcard) or clubcard deals generally?
exclusions: No entry during the month of August at London Eye, Madame Tussauds London, London Dungeon and SEA LIFE London Aquarium. No entry during Fright Nights at THORPE PARK (£5 entry fee applies). No entry on 14th February at the London Eye. No entry on 31st October at the London Eye and The London Dungeon.
Because I thought these restrictions were OTT I complained to Merlin and now  they have two cards
A standard Merlin pass and A Premium Merlin pass which has no restrictions but they have set the price at £200 :whistling: for the premium.
