if i remember correctly you register email and get clues to various levels, and upon completing you get freebie softwares.

in Jul 06 the 1st email i got was an invite from a Mac Heist member:
"MacHeist is an event for Mac users who are addicted to great software. Each week, you will undergo a heist, and on completion, receive free, cool apps, and money off the final week's bundle.

-The MacHeist Team"

so i email this guy billy, then he asks i dont know you kinda spy and you gotta mention who you know (Arn) ... then billy tells you the password.

2nd email in nov 06:
"Dear MacHeist members,

The second heist has officially begun, with the new and popular personal finance manager "Cha-Ching" and the browser integrated keychain utility, 1Passwd, as the week's two freebies.

"This week's heist involves a famous unsolved puzzle from the underground Mac software cracking community. One of the community's most beloved members, "The Edge", announced permanent retirement from software cracking six months ago after years of service and hundreds of cracked Mac apps. With his announcement notice, he left a puzzle supposedly leading to unlocked builds of two apps that have long remained uncracked: Cha-Ching and 1Passwd."

Continue the heist by viewing the mission briefing.

MacHeist Directorate"

3rd email nov06:
"Heist 3, codenamed "Save Lisa", has officially begun. You'll find the new mision in your briefings folder, located at http://www.macheist.com/briefings/

As always, completion of the heist will result in some nice goodies for your loot, and for this week, we have nearly $40 worth of free apps ready to be earned.

In addition, you may want to check out this week's mini heist, which began with a new memo, and included a nice prize for those who completed it. (Click the dynamite to access it.)"

it goes on to MacHeist 6 etc.
