This is a great saving as elsewhere the 250GB Slim PS3 (without the extras included here) is retailing for around £290.00

Description
PLAYSTATION 3 Slim--32% smaller, 36% lighter and consuming 34% less power than the original! Including a 250GB hard drive!

Please Note! PS3 Slim is not compatible with PlayStation 2 games.

The internal design architecture of the PS3 Slim, from the main semiconductors and power supply unit to the cooling mechanism, has been completely redesigned, achieving a much slimmer and lighter body. Compared to the very first PS3 model with 60GB HDD, the internal volume as well as its thickness and weight are trimmed down to approximately two-thirds.

Furthermore, power consumption is also cut to two-thirds, helping to reduce fan noise. While inheriting the sleek curved body design of the original model, the form factor of the PS3 Slim features a new meticulous design with textured surface finish, giving an all-new impression and a casual look.

PS3 Slim continues to offer the cutting-edge features and functions of the original models, such as the ability to enjoy high-definition Blu-ray disc movies and games, as well as various content and services downloadable through the network. PS3 Slim's storage size has increased from 80GB to 250GB, and with the extra capacity users will be able to store more games, music, photos, videos as well as various content and services available through PlayStation Network.

Having more than 27 million registered accounts around the world, PlayStation Network offers more than 15,000 pieces of digital content, ranging from game titles, trailers, and demos to more than 15,000 movies and TV shows via PlayStation Store. PlayStation Network members can also download free applications, such as PlayStation Home, a ground-breaking 3D social gaming community available on PS3 that allows users to interact, communicate and share gaming experiences, as well as Life with PlayStation, which offers users various news and information on a TV monitor in the living room by connecting the PS3 to the network.

PS3 system software update version 3.00
The updated system software adds various user-friendly features such as the "What's New" screen, where users can quickly browse the new items available in PlayStation Store as well as their recently played games directly on the XMB (XrossMediaBar), with shortcuts to each piece of content. PS3 will evolve continuously with the system software updates, further improving the operability and enhancing the user experience available through the network. PS3 owners will be able to enjoy new features by simply updating the PS3 system software to version 3.00 via the "System Update" function on the XMB.
BRAVIA Sync feature
The PS3 Slim is also equipped with the BRAVIA Sync feature. By connecting the PS3 Slim and a BRAVIA TV with the HDMI cable, users are able to directly operate the XMB on PS3 using the TV remote control. Other functions include "System Standby" that will automatically turn off the PS3 when the BRAVIA TV is turned off.
Vertical Stand for PS3 Slim (CECH-2000 series)
By utilising the Vertical Stand (sold separately), users will be able to set the PS3 Slim in vertical position, making it easier to place the PS3 anywhere at home.

I was like wheres the deal wheres the deal, then I noticed 250gb. Phew
#3
I bought the 120GB slim last week. Wish i'd held out a few weeks now! Although, to be honest 120 is more than enough.
#4
Not sure if this is hot or not. I guess it is if you really need the bigger capacity as LBP and the BluRay are as cheap as chips, Killzone platinum around £18. I'd expect to get this bundle for under £250 with the 120Gb version, so is the bigger hard disk worth the extra £40 or so ?

PS The deal is for Zavvi, not mentioned in title

Oh dear God... I may have to do this... it's soooooo tempting!

haha took me a minute to work this one out!
Our phat 80gb is starting to mark discs fairly badly really randomly (makes discs look like something has been spilled on them) but doesnt do it all the time, so thinking of getting a slim as dont want a console I cant trust!
#7
This is an ok deal really. You can get 2.5" PS3 compatible 320GB Sata hard drives for less than £40.

So you could buy a slim now, and a new, bigger hard drive for about the same money.

The official price for a 250GB model with two platinum games is £284.99, so this is likely to be a standard kind of bundle as of next Thursday.

Shopto is doing the 250GB on its own for £249.99, which seems pretty good to me, too. I'm quite glad I resisted the 120GB now...
#10
Good price, but I think I'm going to wait for the Uncharted 2 bundle.
#11
Brilliant price for a brilliant bundle

That's the one I'm thinking of getting if I do end up getting a PS3, It's the analogue sticks I never really liked on the pads are the analogues the same size on the ps3 as they were on ps1/ps2?

Thanks

I have just received the 120gb deal advertised here!
Is it necessary to have a 250gb console? Will I need that much space? Its going to be another £20 plus postage costs to swap for another 120gb. What does everyone think?
How would you buy your own PS3 compatible drive and fit it? Isn't the console sealed? Can you attach it externally to the PS3?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

The beta was just ok, nothing special IMO

Do Sony and Microsoft plan to release 320GB consoles a month down the line?

This is becoming absolutely ridiculous.

Consumers are getting ripped off and conned at the same time.

People have to say no to put a stop to this.
#20
why have sony still not put wireless n in the new models still going with cheap b/g cards.

Even tho I want the 80gb Old Version, now I think I might aswell get this for £250.

250gb is great amount of space.

Feel sorry for the ones who got the 120gb one.

Think of them as a pair of nips! :)

If people are clever, they can upgrade for no cost whatsover.
#29
Very good deal. Ideal xmas pressie
#30
it would be wise for sony to release a model with no hdd so consumers can choose whatever capacity they like :)
250GB will be useful for playtv users tho. an entire serie of x factor is like 20GB

By keeping your eye out on here in terms of games and blu rays on offer and selling them to GS for profit

e.g. £16.99 for Matrix Trilogy BD @ HMV. £25 credit at Gamestation after price matching CEX.

Great deal, shame it lacks ps2 compatibility.
#35
haha my 40gb is on ebay as we speak. But when it sells im gonna get a 120gb uncharted 2 bundle most probably. And by the way, there is unconfirmed news that sony is gonna start selling ps2 games via psn, which means the PS3 can emulate these games after all. (as anyone with half a brain knew already). There was also talk of Dreamcast games via PSN, now if Shenmue 1 and 2 are released on PSN I will be so happy as then SEGA would probably make a shenmue 3 exclusive for the PS3. I dont see why you would go for a 250gb version, its overkill and 2.5 drives are dropping in price all the time. Wont be long before the 500gb drives are £40.
#36
Hmmm do I try and get a cheap 80gig phat ps3 or should I just go for the slim!! To be honest it's gonna be used mostly as a blu ray player apart from any ps3 exclusives!!
#37
alright deal heat added & rep for first 250gb ps3 found, well done andywedge:thumbsup:

however you are basically paying full price for the games etc...LBP £10, killzone 2 £15, Dod blu ray £5 HDMI £5 (or cheaper) so £35!

You can get the 250gb ps3 slim on its own for £250 at shopto.net -
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/487852/250gb-ps3-slim-for-249-99-shopto-ne

or one of 7 bundles, big selection!
Glad I waited, be gutted if I had got the 120gb!

EDIT: wont let me give more rep as i have given you so much already lol, too many quality deals!
#38
Think it's time to upgrade. Voted hot!
#39
great price, but I would wait another month or two for the price to go down
