Always does, don't know why.

Both have 28 items I believe and they sound identical. :?

Identical, I have the one from Amazon after seeing it in Maplin for £19.99 then I came home and price-compared.

Search for '28Pc Gaming Tool Kit - Opens most Game Consoles - NEW !' on ebay to see a picture of the Rolson set. As Mallinersha said the tools are identical.

Nope, it doesn't look like the Amazon one has Torx fitments. You'll need a size 10 torx to open the original PS3. I notice the Amazon description doesn't list the PS3. So this is hot from me.

I already have all of the screwdrivers seperately otherwise I would definitely be on this.
#11
Hope reassembly is as easy as disassembly.

Depends on the console but PlayStation products are generally not for the faint hearted.
#13
Heh... I remember having to take my PS2 apart multiple times because the laser was ******ed.

I have loads of screwdrivers at my disposal, so I won't be getting this, but it's a pretty cool idea. Not voting hot, though, as Amazon is cheaper.

Is there a Free Delivery code for maplin as the 3 maplin stores near me have none in stock and i need this set.
#16
To be honest, you can find most of the required drivers in pound shops and such like with the possible exception of the tri-wing which is the only 'specialist' one listed there really.

My torx set came from a market stall in Essex and it's by far better than any of the ones included in these kits and even the ones that Team Xecuter provide.

Da Warranty Deystoya!!
#18
The warrantee on the PS3 is crap though, hence people need this.
#19
Must get one of these for the kids!

Damn I only recently spent like £6 just on a gamecube screwdriver.

A small flat head screwdriver will work too

Nice, heat added. Good price for a handy collection of tools for the console-tinkerer.

I remember before wanting to mod my Gamecube and was waiting for my screwdriver to be delivered, saw an awesome tip on the internet to open the screws without a driver (which satisfied my impatience... lol), it was so obvious I couldn't believe I didn't think of it myself. Melting the bottom end of a Bic Biro, push it onto the screw, wait for it to cool, makeshift screwdriver :)

Deffo going to order this though, I know at some point I'll end up using a fair few of these.

Can someone confirm is the only difference between the Maplin one for £13 (after postage) and the Amazon one for £8, the Amazon one does not come with a T10 screwdriver?

If so a T10 is not worth £5 IMHO.

Sorry I had just made it my motto to not believe someone with an alien with a tin foil hat on as their avatar. :-D

No seriously what it was the Amazon deal stated 26 piece set, and with people saying stuff was missing I was not sure.

Duly ordered the Amazon one now, thanks for your help.

Repping you too

Did the Amazon 1 say Usually dispatched within 2 to 5 weeks before?

No. I had opened the page about half an hour ago and it said in stock. When I just refreshed it, it says 2-5 weeks. Still, if it is exactly identical to the Maplin one, then I don't mind waiting.

Yeah, I broke about 10 pens attempting to do this and fail every time! Took me 2 seconds when the screwdriver actually came.

Love how easy the gamecube all fits together, really simple!

it was a nice heads up that such a thing existed though, so I would say hot, or at least lukewarm.

Just got this new email from Amazon

We are pleased to report that the following item will dispatch sooner than expected:

"Rolson 28600 Gaming Tool Kit Display Box"
Previous estimated arrival date: June 30 2010 - July 12 2010
New estimated arrival date: June 14 2010

For some reason choosing free supersaver delivery meant that the product would be delivered earlier in comparison to First Class and Next Day delivery.

Oh, and this product on Amazon is now #1 best selling in the tool kits range!

Indeed. I voted hot before I saw the amazon deal anyway :)

No offence, but you'd only not be able to put it back together if you were a moron.

Can't speak for others but I know my way around most consoles and have minor faults on several out of warranty, Nintendo and Sony ones which would be easy to fix if it were not for the screws, manufacturers put in our way because they think we are all curious idiots.
#40
H&R added for both as without this post I'd never been made aware of the Amazon one :-D. The kit is well worth is just for the Xbox 360 tool as that case is a pain to get off with a small flat head.
