Lovely hotel was out there in early September. Oriental restaurant is fantastic. I booked through these people and they were £20 cheaper than lastminute when I went so might be worth a bell. http://www.travelvaluespecialoffers.co.uk/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=10&MMN_position=148:148

They're only advertising sister hotel but am sure they do the Grand Resort too.

could be cos of where they eat, i would say never go for anything lower than a 4/5* as their standards arent like ours. 6 of us went at easter and none of us had a bad tummy, we ate in the hotel the whole time as was AI.

I think it's because we are used to clean food. So our immune system is really crap. I think if there is an outbreak of some huge disease, we will be wiped out first!

good price,

but £289 price seems to be for B&B only
HB from £317

I never got sick just need bathroom more then i usually did

Carefull where you eat also , dont be a skint flint and buy cheap food or you will get ill , there hygiene is not like ours , also dont get icecubs put in your drinks and make sure water is sealed as they try and give people tap water or fill the bottle back up with tap water.

Egypt wasnt what i expected personally was quite a disappointment...went to pyramids , what a crock of sh-ite nothing like it was shown on tv , litter all around , fake police men trying to con you , sleazey men ...ah how i wish i still had the same view of it before i went lol

Even had guy on a motorbike do a gun sign at me even lol ....he wasnt brave enough to get off it and do it

Although i did meet quite a few nice locals , but then you get some idiots who hassle you none stop you basically have to be rude back.

People think you are loaded and try and take the **** in shops , make sure you always knock price right down and see how much locals pay

I made the mistake of renting a so called luxury apartment , wow what a mistake that was

Its a nice hotel. We visitied here when staying at their sister hotel in Makadi Bay. They seem to take pretty good care of their hotels and the design is excellent. Only thing with this one is when you step outside the hotel it is pretty grim, very hassly and you would need a taxi to get into the main part of Hurghada.

if i get laid off, then this were i'm going!!

If you like to stay in your hotel and chill, this is a hot deal, but if you want to explore the local area this is not for you. Hurghada has to be the worst place I have ever visited, it has no redeeming qualities, and you will spend a lot of time in the loo

Depends what you go there for. I had a two week Scuba diving holiday in Hurghada and I would say it's the best place in the world I have dived –*I'm an Advanced Scuba Diver with over 50 dives; that includes the Great Barrier Reef and Maldives.

But I did get food poisoning and I stayed in a 5 star hotel; just eat cooked food and leave the salad (IMO). Personally I would only go to Hurghada for diving but if you do dive then you won't beat it.

I think we are in agreement; it was the resort and hygiene I had concerns about. I also stayed in a 5 star and got food poisoning like the majority of people in the hotel, and the resort well don't get me started.

I would recommend anyone going for this deal check out the hotel on trip advisor first, always a good idea wherever you are going on holiday.

We certainly are.

The town itself (although it was 6 years ago I went), isn't the best. I did have a few good nights out, but there was about 20 of us from a dive school who also flew there together, so we made our own entertainment.

Personally, like I said, I would only go for diving, not as a tourist destination. Most people on our trip suffered upset stomachs at some stage or another. I made the mistake of trying the delicious looking salad… after that one dreadful mistake I didn't touch the salad again and I didn't have any more stomach problems.

Just noticed that the £289 is for half board from Manchester on 13th December. B&B on the same date is £20 more! WIN!

I don't care which end it comes out - you're still sick!

This thread has done nothing to convince me this is a place to go - at any price.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago, it cost £360 each half board with flights, the hotel is lovely and the pools are gorgeous, temp was 37 celcius! alot of germans and russians. Breakfast is nice, and inclusive, the only thing was, fresh orange was charged at £2 a glass, and was horrible because they never put ice in it, so it was warm. We only ate at the hotel three times, the food was good in the buffet area, but we booked into the mediteranio restaraunt at the hotel twice, somethings on the menu were free, but if you wanted steak, you had to subsidise it, very very romantic setting by one of the pools. When you land you will have to pay £13 for a visa to enter the country, big queues! and be careful as they took £30 each of us, we went back and demanded our money back, after ten mins of counting money and checking how many visas had been sold we got our money back. Bad scam! The egyptians are very arrogant, not nice and very demanding! unbelievably pushy! to the left of the hotel is Kfc, pizza hut, maccys, its about a 15 min walk, to the right shops and bars etc. We recomend going to the marina, the restaraunts are lovely, the sites are gorgeous. There is a Head Kandi there!!! it gets busy around 1am. A taxi to and from the marina will cost around 15/20 egyptian pounds, around £2 for a twenty min journey, agree the price first as they will try and get more, look at the seats first as some have half a camel in and some dont, fur every where and it is horrible!!! I would return to this hotel and stay on site next time as there is not much outside. Hope this helps

I went with a dozen scuba divers to Hurghada in 2004 and stayed in a 5 star hotel. Every single one of us were sick at one stage or another. The food looked great, but I think they washed the salad with local water and that's how people pick up a lot of bugs. I would say stay away from salad and you'll be fine.

Hot deal, but I wouldn't go to Hurghada unless scuba diving.
