I posted a similar deal from Comet a few days back but this one is potentially better as it comes from Tesco. You get
(1) 299 clubcard points (equivalent to up to £11.96)
(2) Quidco Cashback
(3) Discounts using vouchers elswhere on the website.

Anyone know if it comes with the Media Centre remote?

I reckon Tesco offers the best deal when combined with discounts. No it does not come with MC Remote.

Mostly £5 off £50 at the moment.

Sorry to intervene Dio...but the voucher would have to be for "Tesco Direct" purchases..not groceries, wine etc.

Bump.

Sorry currychops for moving before your question was answered in the other thread.
#13
Thanks to jmdrizen for the reminder by posting the duplicate, now moved. I should have remembered this one :)
#14
yes I agree rayman....I take it Comet put DC after theirs to indicate DESKTOP COMPUTER....it is exactly the same model from all 3 retailers who have it at £299.99
#15
Actually, I think it might stand for Dual Core - Acer do another T180 which has a Sempron processor.

£300 seems to be the common pricepoint for this machine now. I wonder whether there may be some discounts coming to get rid of XP stock to replace with Vista......?

(Fingers crossed)
#16
Ebuyer site states this has free upgrade to Vista, anyone actually know if it will be accepted ? I have seen several forum posts that when you try to register, it gets rejected. Anyone know for sure ?

I also see Ebuyer has the same system, but shipping with Vista for £399. So if this one did come with a free upgrade, not much point in paying an extra £100.
#17
Don't forget, you can upgrade to Window's Vista Home Premium for free (well, £14 postage) via the Microsoft Express Upgrade programme. Visit http://global.acer.com/support/win_vista.htm.

I picked up one of these yesterday and set it up last night with no problems.

Just to let you all know, it needed a couple of blank DVDRs to do the initial backup (as there are no XP CDs supplied)

On initial impressions it seems excellent value for money, although a bit slow to start up - which I think has to do with the trial edition of Norton preinstalled. Tonight I will replace Norton with AVG to see if it speeds it up a bit.

Yes Norton will slow it down...I'd also install a different firewall like Zone Alarm free version...the windows one is not very good.

Thanks for that, I was going to put Zone Alarm on as well, which if I remember will disable the XP (not very good) firewall during installation.
