Could get stuck there for a while, if relying on flying back.

Icelandair has slashed more than £130 OFF a 3-night city break to Reykjavik including the popular whale watching tour, bringing the price of this trip down to £299 per person.

Update (20 April, 10:15am): 24, 26-28 April; 1, 3, 4 May from London Heathrow are now sold out at the £299 price. 23 April and 14 May from Manchester are now sold out at the £299 price.

Flights depart Manchester 23 April; 14 May; or London Heathrow on 24, 26-28 April; 1-5, 11, 12, 15, 17-19, 22 May. Accommodation is the Hotel Leifur Eriksson, a family-run property located in downtown Reykjavik. A few minutes' walk from the city centre, the hotel is opposite Hallgrimskirkja, a magnificent church; while museums and galleries are also close by.

I think this is going by the Royal Navy and the ex-Falklands task force.

You used to be able to do this better booking the parts indivicually but using Iceland Express (when you could get weekend returns for about £100). The people at the hotel are nice - if you do want to try doing this separately then give them a ring and they'll usually do you a deal, it was really useful for us getting a third bed in a twin room so cutting the costs of an extra room.

Oh and if you want to explore the rest of the island by car, don't hire a toyota yaris. Having to push your way out of a snowdrift in the dark in a yaris is less fun than it might seem.
