Matsui MAT120MR 2Gb MP3 Player - product code 454203

Reduced from £49.99 - available to reserve and collect only but appears to have good availability. Cheapest 2gb mp3 player I have seen and its a known brand name as well - possibly a good idea for Christmas presents?

Store up to 600 MP3 songs | Voice recording function | 8 hours battery life | Built in USB plug

checked this on 23rd nov and they've gone up to £34.99 now but have found same model at pc world for £24.99 (half recommended price).
Just ordering one now through Quidco of course!

This is typical. I got the 1 GB version for my son two weeks ago:oops:
At this price. But just to endorse the product. The sound and build quality for the price is very good. Better than the previous MP3 he had from an auction site!
#4
It's just the thing we were looking for as a present as the one my daughter has is only 128MB and I said that I was going to get her one with a decent capacity.

Despite me dealing with these things daily, do you know if you can organise your music in folders (ala playlist) on these?

I want a cheapo temporary replacement for my now broken Zen.

Also available at pc world for the same price!
#10
This is just how much these cost, same price at argos.

Some questions for people who have already bought this:
1) Does the display show the song name?.
2) Can you select tracks by folder name?.
3) When you turn on the unit, does it start playing from track 1 or the track you played just before turning off the unit?
4) How long the battery last?
5) Is it fast to copy tracks from the PC to the player?.

Thanks

Come on its cheap as chips, get one and just use and abuse or give one to your gran.

I got a similar 2GB Logik branded from the Link a while back and yes does what you have asked (although turning on/turning off is a bit naff), battery life depends on the battery you use, I use high powered rechargables and they last ages.

Bought a couple of cheap ones from Argos in the last few days. I had to return them all due to not having the above features. Just wanted to make sure I didn't make the same mistake.

Reserved one at local Currys. I guess I can ask them these questions before buying.

Thats weird as I used it this afternoon and got my £2.50 off

I'll see what happens when it arrives.
#27
Bought it this morning (of course via Quidco!) and for the price, it's a great little product.
Yes, it doesn't look like a Ipod, have fancy screens etc. What it does have is that it's cheap & does what's needed... play music/store files.

Still a top find and voted. Cheers:thumbsup:

It certainly is weird as there is no delivery with this item and the code is only for items that are delivered i believe you said. Anyway,i can't get it to work either.:-(

***** WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL BUYERS***

I reserved this MP3 player on-line Sunday night and picked it up today....I downloaded 3 albums onto the player, then switched the unit on so i could listen to the albums ...but all the screen said was "Internal Updating Music Library".!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I first thought that maybe this was what would happen for a few seconds as it had new music on it...BUT NO!!!!.....another 25 minutes later and it STILL had the same message....NONE of the buttons would respond and it wouldnt even turn off!!!!!...i had to remove the battery to stop the player from displaying this message!!!

It is being returned to Currys tomorrow , hopefully i will get a refund!!...im NOT very happy because the store is a 40 mile round trip and i had to make a special journey today as this was the closest store with any available!!!!

YOU LIVE AND LEARN is guess - you get what you pay for!!!!...no wonder its £20 cheaper than any other 2gb MP3 player!!....i was suspicious when i purchased it, but didnt think a simply thing like an MP3 player could go wrong!!!

Will be buying a SONY one now..not this cheap rubbish!!

(PS..the unit came loaded with 9 tracks which i listened to first....and i must say, the sound quality is not very good....there are 5 preset sounds eq's, but to be honest , none of them were great!!)

Interesting spenspuma, looks like you were unlucky to get a duff one. Why don't you just give them a call instead of driving a 40 mile round trip which will obviously cost you more in the long run?

I will still have to return the item..or at best return it through the post which would cost about £7 so about the same as the petrol!!!!.

Oh well!!!!...im just hoping i get my money back ok.
#32
I got a duff one too!!

The PC didn't detect it whatsoever, and if you go to turn it on, nothing happened. Even changed the battery!
Took it back, and they had none in so spent an extra £15 to get another! :x

It wasn't for me, but a friend. I haven't a clue what one they got, but at least they got one that works!
#33
As they're part of Dixons and PCWorld, any chance of one of those being closer and trying for a return to one of those?
#34
I bought one this afternoon, but I didn't open it. Sounds like I better return it for a refund.

A bit offtopic but from my experience, Sony is expensive looking rubbish. :)

You should, as the item is faulty.

You should, as the item is faulty.

And how can you actually prove that?

Granted, I guess there is a higher chance that it could be compared to a Creative or iPod, with this been a Matsui!

Just tell them it stops working after 20 minutes. Chances are they'll take your word for it (works all the time at Argos).

It's true, of course they will take your word for it. It's cheap tack.

But what I meant is how can you say/prove that guys will be faulty? Some do work perfectly well you know?

I disagree - I have a Sony LCD TV, a Sony Amp, a Sony personal radio, a Sony personal CD player and all are fantastic quality, great to use and (certainly in the case of the TV) beautiful to look at!
