I am currently using this sim deal.. just started last month.. ended up my bill becomes £21 for this month.. because of the voice calls..(they charge at 0.26p/min if I am not mistaken).. better if someone can restrict just to use the data allowance.. :) I thought I can..but unfortunately not..:)

Look closer and realize what a colossally crap deal this is, people. As "Stormhawk" above seems to testify.
#10
Seems a good deal to me as long as you only use it for data.

Even a 3GB 3 month SIM on amazon or ebay will cost you about £12 now.

Yes you can, have done this for a year now. And you can have it capped at the 2GB so that you don't incur additional charges.

It's not a "crap" deal at all. If you'd read the thread title properly, the clue is there!!!

why not get a giffgaff sim card £5 for unlimited internet and unlimited txts [if needed].. I'm sure most know by now they are also 30 day rolling contracts.

Very hot deal. I got the 3GB (or was it 5GB) deal last year and still use it. 3 has much better coverage and speeds for data then other networks. Use it in an ipad, dongle, laptop or mifi. Don't use it in a phone when you might make calls!

Giffgaff is great but hampered by slower download speeds as it runs on O2. I found speeds to be about half in general.
#15
What's better then? This or the £12 one from Amazon? Need a SIM for my Galaxy Tab.

Will be just normal browsing on a day to day basis and don't want any extra charges.

3 internet is great! one thing I missed when moving to 02...

Just looked at the giffgaff site and seen this though:

Mobile Internet:
Mobile Internet is free until 30 JUN (with a fair use of 100MB a day). After that date it will be charged at 20p a day. If you use less than 1MB/day you'll pay less than 20p and if you go over 20MB you'll be charged extra at 20p/MB.

So @ 20p per day that makes £6 extra per month.

So does that apply to their goodybag tariffs, of just their PAYG.

Thanks, may get this for the dongle. I was getting unlimted for a fiver but I think they finally realised its not a phone!

because you don't get unlimited Internet on GiffGaff unless you take at least a £10 goodybag?

good deal if you use only data.. thats my first impression.. but how can one have more than one smartphones? :) (of course not because of the cost, but managing them...)

IMHO, this deal is best if you're going to put the SIM in a dongle, though having said that there's no reason why you can't use it in a phone. It's perfectly reasonable to have more than 1 smartphone, they're nothing new, I've still got several old ones lying about!

AFAIK, this is still the best and cheapest data SIM available.

Three = no signal + 0 - 7kbps.
I have dozens of screenshots to prove it.

This is specific to your location, however I must admit in my own house I had bad signal and inside most houses I do. Most of the time I have great signal and nearly always have 3G. Not to mention I achieve upwards of 3MB connection on 3G even with a weaker signal.

I've had one of these sims for about a year now, using it in a E585 MIFI. I get good coverage in my location with 5 to 6mbs download speeds! When I bought this deal, it was called 'SIM Zero' with 'Internet max bolt-on' - good for IPADS (you can request a micro-sim in-store), MIFI etc....

I usually get around 10 Mbps
#26
Cracking deal, but this is for use in 3G dongles really, you don't want to use this in a phone, unless you never make a call. 3 is way ahead of all the other operaters for 3G signal quality and speed aswell.
#27
If I were to chop this to a micro SIM and pop it in an ipad could they tell? There isn't any obligation to make calls or top it up etc is there?
#28
If you want to cancel this expect to make about 6-8 phone calls before you finally get someone to help you!
#29
Purchased for my iPad, thanks!

Is there anywhere where you can buy a MIFI for cheaper than the going rate of £65-75 ish? Would much prefer one over a dongle but they ain't exactly cheap, imo.

Thanks for the deal. Just what I needed. How do you get it capped at 2GB?

I went from an o2 sim to a three one and there was a noticeable increase in speed, with pages loading more quickly. I can barely tell the browsing speed difference between it and my Virgin cable broadband. I do live in a loft flat in greater London though.
#33
They won't be bothered if I use this in one of their mifi devices? Been looking at the new sim option every three months, but this would suit me better.

Also interested to know how you get it capped at 2gb so you never go over.

Au contraire, I had this deal a while ago and used it for my mifi. Didn't really need it anymore so called up their CS, contract was cancelled within a couple of minutes, hardly any questions asked.

Reception and speed on the mifi was brilliant. Just I didn't really need internet on the go.

Three have the best 3g reception by far, certainly miles better than o2 that my company bb is with and also orange on my main phone. Whilst their stores are a bit damp and dingy, 3 have been great to me for the short while it lasted.
#35
This is an excellent deal for people whom own Android or Apple tablets . I hope to get one soon so shall bear this in mind . heat from me .
#36
I would agree with most of the members here who are using 3 Sim or dongles.

I just last week purchased 3's dongle (3GB for 3 months Pay As You Go) for my netbook. I mainly use it on the train on my way to work and I can definitely say that 3's mobile broadband is really impressive. Most of the time I'm getting 3G signals and at other times HSPA signals.

On the other hand, my mobile's SIM card is on O2. I can clearly see the difference between O2's internet coverage and 3's internet. On O2, I have rarely got 3G signals, most of the times it is 2G signals. As a result the speed suffers.

3 Thumbs up from me for 3 !!!:p

Do you have any links for these SIMs?

Mine E585 was £50 last year, but prices have since gone up! I recently bought another one for my sister from amazon..price varies every week - last week this one was £62 delivered with 3GB included (over 3 months).....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Huawei-Version-Broadband-Wireless-Preloaded/dp/B004123WL2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

It says E5830 in description but I actually received the E585 (which is shown in picture)...or you could try gumtree or ebay!
