Cracking deal. I just ordered one for my daughters birthday. Thanks a lot for that one. Heat & rep added.
Oh yeah don't forget 2% Quidco too!
#3
Bargain! I've been after an MP3 player to replace the one I dropped. I was after a 4 gig but this one was too good to resist.
#4
I'm starting to worry that its a pricing error and that it won't get honoured.
#5
seems like a really good deal, however can you drag and drop MP3 files onto it or do you have to use the SonicStage 3.4 software to rip audio CDs only ? can anyone answer this question :?

Yes, because its clearly not intended in that context ;-)

wow thats a great deal! hot +rep

Actually it's not technically an mp3 player ... no way. It's a mp3 converter, you have to convert your files (songs/podcasts etc..)via sonicstage to use them so be warned !!
Its definately not drag and drop...oh and sonicstage is poo :(
#14
It is an MP3 player!
Sonicstage has an option to convert the files to Sony's ATRAC format, it doesn't do it automatically. And it says on the manual how many songs the player can hold in ATRAC, MP3 and WMA format, as it can hold almost twice the number of songs if you use ATRAC format.

Sonicstage isn't that bad to be honest. It organises the tracks well.
Easier than iTunes in my opinion.
#15
it plays mp3 s so its an mp3 player!
#16
Fantastic deal! Just bought one for my sons birthday.
#17
I have songs on from Itunes, will I be able to transfer them on to this? I used to use Sonicstage and I never got on with it. It is the same as transferring songs from your laptop to your phone folder for your mobile or is it more complicated?
#18
excellent deal thanks!
#19
why do all these big companys insist on not having drag and drop files? the software that is used to transfer the songs is nearly always useles.
#20
*nevermind* The player does have a 1-line LCD display.
#21
Hey I just ordered one, thanks man.
#22
Dont think its a missprice. Just found it myself but thanks anyway. Voted HOT

Wicked price. Wifes wanted a new MP3 player for a while and I nearly bought her one of the refurbs from Currys the other week. Glad I waited now.

You don't have to use Sonic Stage, download voidMP3FM specifically for this player. You run it from the flash drive on the MP3 and it allows you to simply drag and drop. I use it on the black version of this, works a treat.

No

"If you want to buy tracks, you must use the Connect store or purchase non-DRM tracks from eMusic, for example (no Napster, no iTunes)."

Yeah I know ;-)

Funny thing is I actually ordered 2 (one for me too) but even though it was from the same cart it has shown as 2 seperate orders onscreen, so not sure if the code would actually work? Maybe it's just showing as 2 orders to get under the £18 c&e limit and these are actually being shipped from Jersey or wherever rather than mainland UK as most of Play's hardware is...

Another bit of review I found:

"I must admit I followed another reviewer's tip of downloading the latest version (4.2) of SonicStage free from the Sony website, and have not bothered with the 3.4 version which was supplied with the player. Admittedly all tracks have to be imported into SonicStage first, rather than dragging and dropping directly into the MP3 player, but this is no hassle at all. I'm also puzzled about comments about the slowness of file transfer, as I've been importing 20track CDs into SonicStage in about 2 minutes per CD, and transfering them to the Sony player in about 15 seconds (and I've been using the larger MP3 format rather than the default ATRAC format)."

I'm sold - gonna order one!

Voted hot! Thx a lot

agreed, this player is a nightmare to use, best avoided if you are used to simple mp3 players, I bought one from argos hated it, and returned it.
Only plus point is the rechargeable battery which lasts ages
#37
bought 2 of them... Was demotivated a bit at the start due to the sonicstage issue... let me try and see if its fine.... Anyone aware of the returns policy for play.com and how much would be deducted for return??
