Yeh would go for it myself but I don't think I have enough room left on my PC!! Would have loved to play XCOM again. Ahhh the memories, you knew it was on when the hover tank came on the scene!!!

To go for a different pun, Tanks for the memories... I'll get my coat.

I am a longtime lurker on this board.. But I've elected this moment to break my year-long silence and announce my complete support with that statement! It was always ALL about the blaster launcher hovertank! I replayed this at the start of the year - still enjoyable.

Shame that the sequels (terror from the deep, etc) didn't hold quite the same magic for me.

Heat and rep for the find, OP

I highly recommend the £1.35 cider, it tastes absolutely fine when chilled

Good deal if youve not played any already, but to me seems like a 'clear out the old' offer.

XCOM was classic, but unless ive been in a time warp, their release dates are ~10yrs off! The only xcom one there ive not played is 'enforcer', but that looks like a 3rd person shooter rather than a true xcom :-(

Will anyone really play civ 3 when also getting civ 4?

and railroad tycoon?............c'mon....who would wanna??
#14
assuming they have fixed the xcom interceptor XP/Vista problem this is an amazing offer!
#15
Heat & rep added. That's a cracking collection of games!

I don't have the link to hand (I think I have it bookmarked on my home pc) but did you know x-com apocalypse is freeware now? I downloaded it a while back. Some others might be, too...
I'm a massive fan of Julian Gollop's games - moreso the earlier stuff (Rebelstar, Laser Squad, though the x-com games were good albeit a bit samey).

Edit - actually, it might be x-com UFO Defence I downloaded...
#16
It's a great price, I'm not a PC gamer though.
#17
If I didn't already have most of those; and I didn't hate steam - I might be tempted.

Although the inclusion of Civ IV: Colonization actually lowers the value of the deal ;-)

Have some heat.
#18
Awesome deal, Steam is the best digital content distribution system I have seen. Take a look at EA downloader and suchlike and come back and tell me they are better...
#19
I've never used Steam.
Will I be able to download all of the games individually and install across several PC's as required? Or do they lock it down in some way, so that I have to play them all on the PC that I download them on?
#20
Silly me. I jumped in head first because I thought it was xbox games :( . I don;t even have a pc, I have a mac, £35.99 down now for nothing.
#21
'tis a great deal.

I'm in the same boat as several others though, I own to many of the games for it to be worth it. A great pack for those just getting into PC Gaming though.

Nope, you're free to download them to as many PCs as you want.

You will run into problems playing on different computers at the same time thought, especially with multiplayer games.

The release dates are those on steam, not original release.

And yes, no-one's going to want Civ3, the 3 Railroad Tycoon "series" games there all have something different to recommend them though.

Also how can it be a clearout? It's a download.

A good deal I saw this but forgot to post it.

As long as you launch steam in 'offline' mode, you can play the games simultaneously on as many computers as you like. AFAIk the only games you will have issues playing online while in offline mode are valve games, not these.

Steam is great <3

Assuming it's an Intel Mac, you can install Windows on there and play Windows games on your Mac.

Sorry, have amended title to ensure same mistake doesn't happen again. You could always give the games as gifts.
#29
Yes I have xp installed, but I don't liek playing games on the computer, prefer xbox. Do you think there is any way I could get my money back?

Wow, that was a moment of insanity. I would say there is zero chance.
Civ 4 is a magnificent title, well worth dropping your console preference to experience its incredible depth.
#32
TBH I don't think it's a great deal compared to the others a month ago they had all the X-Com games for under £5.. Bioshock was £3.49 in January and they had a Sid Meier and Freedom force pack within the past couple months for next to nothing.

Also Prey you can pick up for a couple quid and register it through steam..

They were cheaper to buy through there individual steam deals then this pack.

HOT if you didn't keep your eye on the steam deals since January but you could have got this cheaper through Steam if you did... it's not a brilliant steam deal.

Ok, I think I'll give it a go then. Is the graphics better on computers than on consoles?

I shall look before I leap next time!!

If you click on the game title itself then it will show the games release date in the detailed description. You're right with the comments for the different versions of Civilization but everyone will have a favourite release (not always the most recent) so there's no harm in including them all.

Some of these games bring back fond Amiga memories from the early 90's, I loved the X-Com games and spent weeks (half of that waiting for the AI to make its move) playing them but they really show their age now. They're good for nostalgic reasons but I couldn't imagine playing them for extended periods.

That said there's still more than enough other games there to make it a cracking deal so it's a definite hot from me. If you've never played the likes of Bioshock, Pirates, Civilization III and IV etc then you'll more than get your £35's worth from this. If you're a little worried about using Steam then don't be, it's a quality product and purchases are linked to your account so you can redownload anything whenever you want.
#36
Would be tempted if I didn't already have a few of the games on there (Xcom, Pirates, Bioshock), excellent deal though!

In almost all cases I'd say yes since you can adjust the visual settings on pc games to whatever your pc can handle. Consoles games are dependant on it's hardware so a number of pc games allow you to have a lot more detail than their console counterpart.

Strategy games are also so much better suited to computers, not least for the fact that you have a keyboard.

You can access all games on your account from any PC you install Steam on
