2kg Carrots, 9p In Netto

£0.09 @ Netto
Just popped into my local Netto and found a display with 2kg bags of carrots for just 9p! Says while stocks last so I can't imagine they'll be there long, still, a great deal in my opinion! This is…

Got some of these today when I called in for the Lurpak (posted on here). Huge bag for 9p. Good post.

How can they sell them for 9p? i'm guessing the farmer gets nothing with those prices.

Not sure why this was expired/spammed. Certainly loads left in Shrewsbury store last night, and not spam!

Beware of these 'fresh' fruit/veg offers from Netto.

My local one had Fyffes bananas for just 29p. However, even though it was Dec 12th, the packs had a best before date of 18th Nov on them, which had been stickered over - shameful!

Apart from the legal situation, relating to this apparent deceit by allegedly re-labelling like this, (which I presume you reported to your local Council, who can do something about it rather than coming on here where nothing can be done about it) just why would that be a problem?
Does something happen to bananas that makes them inedible when the date changes? Is this problem invisible?

Personally, I never buy long in-date bananas anyway, they tend to be so green as to be inedible, besides, my local Netto wouldn't have this particular problem, the fruit and veg sells out so quickly, if you get there later in the day, they have all gone anyway, and that is the reason I don't often shop there now, it's certainly not either a quality problem or a price issue!

I presume the food snobs have expired this :-(

It's not date-expired stock, its just silly cheap. Clearance perhaps, I don't know. Unexpire this, someone who can.

I would have expected something a bit more side-splitting than that after 4 days of working on it! :whistling:
