Buy cheap buy twice is what my dad always taught me. These ones have a fair picture quality for a reasonable price price, really vibrant picture and punchy sound with a smooth low end although not as good as my solid platinum and diamond studded one I use on the main tv:. http://www.amazon.co.uk/AudioQuest-HDMI-cable-plugs-braided/dp/B000E0Y5CK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1273432875&sr=1-2

Ordered one of these from the hut last week. Not gold plated but still give great picture and sound. Heat added.

Totally true in some cases. More importantly, wrong in this one.
Under 5 meters there will be no difference from a £2 cable or a £200 cable.

According to this HDMI cables can make a difference.

Also What HiFi wher they give this one the best review.
#11
For my 32" (bedroom tv) I doubt I would notice the difference between this and a £200 cable. So for me, this is a hot deal
#12
Thanks, ordered one
#13
good price gona order a few thx

I vote ban on HDMI lead deals, same old tired jokes everytime. It really is a close call between HDMI deals and instore only as to which I hate the most.

An instore only HDMI lead deal would probably push me over the edge :)

because they're morons as is anyone who gets suckered in over the ridiculous amounts being charged for some HDMI cables.

Notice they don't publish their methodology for testing and perhaps as they rely on copious amounts of advertising in their magazines they have some kind of vested interest, no??

Surely you're not of the belief that so many highly paid boffiny experts can be wrong?:?

After deciding to buy a 32" Samsung tele, the salesman in Currys advised me that I should pay at least £50 for a decent HDMI cable or I will not get the full benefit from my HD ready TV.

I should also buy a wall bracket for £100, take out a 5 yr warranty for £150 (just in case I drop it on the way home), and also subscribe to a £600 a year SKY+ HD package which I'd be a fool not to have......

I hope you got one of these as well as that's a lot of money to spend and still get sub-optimal results due to mains variations. And I'd get some red marker pens...

Ordered one for the girlfriend to link her laptop with her HDTV.

Heat added. :)

I take your scart, and raise you a coax cable.

As for this deal, hot. But I've bought enough HDMI leads for no apparent reason already...damn this site.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! :p

Ahh look at the heat aswell, and the comments, nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

On a plus there was not the ever more familiar "Not as good as my diamond encrusted cable" ohhh that one is wearing a bit thin now I must say :x

Or countless links to cables over £250 quid, yes we all f**king know that stupidly priced cables exist now, they are posted on every stupid HDMI deal, ahhhhhhh!!!!

Some of the comments are like a punch in the swingers for me, I know you ask the question "Then why even look at the HDMI cable deals", well I will tell you, it is like a terrible addiction, its like cigarette's, you cant help it even though you know they are bad for you.

The amount of scientists that hang out round the HDMI deals is also quite amazing, talking about 0's and 1's, how impressive.

We all know now I am sure that a cable at a squib gives the same picture as a £250 cable, surely we all know this now.

I am already feeling better so I will continue. Why has the cheap vs expensive cable not properly been put to bed? Has someone got a link perhaps? I looked on YouTube, not conclusive enough.

If it hasn't been done then I will do it myself, if it means buying £100 cables then I will, I am sick of it.

I wanna see a £100 cable vs £1 cable, with clear screen shots and whatever other simple tests that can be done.

I need a drink, goodnight :-D

It's been done by The Gadget Show.

IIRC below 5m lengths there's little to no difference in IQ/SQ due to the digital infrastructure, naught's and one's don't care what quality cable they go through.

The only difference between cheap ones and expensive ones are the sheilding to stop interference with other electrical items, hence the "less than 5m" rule as the longer the cable the more susceptable it is to being influenced.

Don't forget to buy a gold plated USB cable as well, ever since I spent £300 on one my printer has been printing things so much clearer than the one I bought from Poundland.

What HIFI also say THATcable is very good & is a good value @ £5
they gave it 5 star here:
http://www.whathifi.com/Review/ThatCable-HDMI/

you can purchase here:
http://www.thatcable.com/acatalog/HDMI_cables.html

i got plenty of cable so will probably buy this when I next upgrade my TV... to a HDMI 1.3b or c one:thumbsup:
