Not voting but just in case anyone needs one I picked up a 5m one in the 99p store in Surbiton at the weekend so worth checking your local store.

I though there was a length limit to which these things were reliable, i remember years ago buying some repeater cables
#8
I thought so too. The other day I tried connecting using 3 1.5m cables and it worked.

Oh and from Wiki....
"The maximum length of a standard USB cable (for USB 2.0 or earlier) is 5 metres (16.4 ft)."

and

"The USB 3.0 standard does not directly specify a maximum cable length"

I am using a 5m extension to run my mobile dongle to the window for a better signal, works perfectly.

I'd suspect a faulty cable first. Length limit won't suddenly cut off at 5m, it just means the standard is that it must work up to that (though depends on how good the devices you connect to are). If you are using one of those multiple USB adaptors try it without. Frankly, USB cables are so cheap I can't see why anyone would mess with an extender.

PS I hope you 'bought it' ;)

Voted cold due to the many cheaper deals available.

It works perfectly for what I needed it for which was repositioning the USB dongle for my wireless keyboard/mouse so I can use them to control my computer from two separate rooms. If it didn't work I would have just got my 99p back next visit!

Same.

This is good if you don't want to go to the Pound Shops though.
