It seems to have gone back to yesterdays deals for some reason, maybe a problem with the system.

You can not, as if you give a direct link it will show the full price. You have to buy it via the specials page, info in the main first post as to where it is.

Yes, but as stated you have to buy it via the specials page.

Hmmm delivery is only only free after 20 posts and 1 week can't see this lasting that long.

Is it such a good deal when you include delivery costs?

Yes find cheaper. Also do all shop deals include petrol and parking costs?

A lot of people qualify for free delivery, as there are often a lot of specials from scan on this site. And you could also drive and pick it up.
#21
Thanks to the op - just bought one
#22
I got one of these to sit under my TV and power a WD Live.

Noisy is not the word. So I sold it on eBay and got a 2TB WD Element too (cant even tell its on).

Best thing about the Buffalo is the build quality!
#23
I have two WD drives and one Segate drive. I occasionally can hear the Segate but the WD is a silent beast.

Carriage should be £4.79 for up to 5kg. They are charging £9.59 for up to 30kg.

This must be one hefty drive, or they are possibly clawing back some of the reduction.

On that basis - I'm out!!

I asked a question regarding this deal, forgive my ignorance in such matters. I am in need of an external hard drive and just asked for some advice not a lecture on parking , petrol and pick up but thanks for that advice anyway.

Post generally include delivery costs in the title?

One of the reviews on Amazon says
"It comes with Barracuda LP SATA 3Gb/s 2TB Hard Drive
ST32000542AS
32Mb Cache & only 5900 rpm spin

The acclaimed 95Mb/s real equals 15Mb/s on optimal circumstances

It wont play HD flicker free "

Can anyone confirms it?

It sounds like the guy has a problem with his pc.

I have the 1tb version and normally get around 30MB/s transfer rates.

But even at 15MB/s, it should be more than enough to play any hd content.

Yes, great deal, especially as I just got a 2TB internal SATA drive from Aria for £61.99 with the intention of mounting it in a LaCie case but then I saw the delivery charge if you don't frequent AV Forums and the total price goes to nearly £75! Not quite so good then unless you qualify for the free shipping (and generally if you were to qualify for the free shipping, broadly speaking you're probably the kind of person to check Scan's Today Only deals too!).

Nearly £75 with pnp? Where do people learn maths these days.

It's 71.58 assuming pnp is £7.99, which is still a great price for a 2tb external hard drive. Which is still quite a way off £75.

Turns out I did Maths at Oxford and have a B.A. in it actually - well, Computer Science so a very similar subject.

If you don't believe me, I went to Today Only and clicked 'Buy' - this is the basket:

Net Total £52.99
Carriage £7.99
VAT £12.20

Total £73.18

Maybe you need to learn that 'PnP' needs VAT added...

I will hold my hand up, I forgot to add the vat onto the delivery. But my delivery price was a guess
as i get free delivery as standard, so I do not see the price of delivery. As I said in the original post.
#32
ordered, seems to be a fair price, bit concerned about the noise factor, will plug into my ps3 with music & movies. Thanks
#33
Ok, but unfortunately not all of us can benefit from free shipping and at £7.99 + VAT they are doing a number on us (that's about 15% more than those who can get free shipping) - the hard disk can't be that big or heavy!

Can we agreed then with free shipping = good deal
Without free shipping = not so good deal!
#34
ordered not too long ago and already had dispatch email, this did make chuckle though, at the bottom of the final email (scan send you 4 when ordering)

"Please note pre-10 deliveries may take up to 11:00am and pre-12 deliveries may take up to 1:00pm."

i mean.....whats the point then?

I would not bother buying 2TB HDD without USB 3.0.
Even if your motherboard don't support it now, think about future.
Have you tried copying large files using USB 2.0? It is dreadfully slow.
When time comes and you will need to do quick full back up of your PC then you can forget about the word QUICK.

YES price is great, shame about £9 delivery.
#36
No big deal. Dabs are selling these at £74.98 with free postage and as of now have over 100 in stock.

Disagree. Unless you're going to be constantly trying to fill up the entire drive in one sitting, the speed is perfectly fine for storing media files etc. A typical 7200 RPM SATA hard drive tops out at about 50-75 megabytes/s (400-600Mbps) for sequential writes. This means that the fastest the hard drive can go when writing a stream of data isn't much faster than what you can stuff over USB.

It's hardly going to break the bank and if you really need usb 3.0 speeds in the future just buy a new enclosure.

I'd have to agree with Wicked Lester. Even when filling the drive it'd only take a 24 hours at the most.

EDIT: 512KB of data?
