What am I doing wrong? It's showing as £53.54 Inc VAT for me.
Update - Found it but delivery pushes up the cost if not on the AVforum.
Are these grey imports or do they have the full three year warranty? I need four of them and I'm looking for the lowest price but with the full warranty.

Thanks OP. Just bought one :)

I'm on the lookout for a media player now to put it in. I'm torn between the ASUS O'Play HD2 and the ACRyan HD2. Can't decide. :{

Follow the link in the OP oO

Are these Greys? Might get one if it is a proper UK model.
#8
Z4 means it's a grey import. But Scan honours the 3 year warranty instead?

Thanks for the clarification - have added to OP.

Not sure on what to do....do i hold out for them to get cheaper or get this! I have about 40GB left on my media centre!
#10
Not sure either. Great price but I would rather have the manufacturer's warranty.

I am not a computer expert, and you NEED TO FLASH the bios in this, as there is a fault with these drives, but its not easy, And I could not figure out how to do it, or its above my head. as all I know is, put the drive in and thats it, but you need to download firmware, put it in or something, go into bios ect.. I just got lost.

Would rather just pay the extra 5.00 or 10.00 on a drive that doesnt have faults, and also scan has a terrible returns policy, THEY REFUSE Return postage if it goes faulty

Firstly BIOS has nothing to do with HDD firmware. Secondly the f/w issue has been long resolved on these drives. Thirdly, and i may be mistaken here but as a consumer you are covered by the Sales of Goods Act that any faulty product you buy that is in warranty has to be fixed/replace by the retailer at no cost to yourself (this includes phone calls, letters, any other expenses etc).
#13
So if they have been resolved, why does ebuyer still have big red warning notes on their own site about these drives, saying you need to update them.

I might buy one, but when I read the instructions, it was very hard to read.

Any help ? And I argued this with scan, and they kept saying they would refund, then 2 weeks past and my 5.00 was not returned, it took 5 calls, then started yelling, then they gave me money back, it was hard work

Post #20 onwards contains all the info. After you have created a bootable memory stick you will need to boot from it. Depending on the system you have you will normally have a boot menu option when you switch on (ie F12- Boot menu)...Hit this and choose to boot from the memory stick.

You can also check the firmware version to see if you actually need it. iirc it is only if you are using it in a NAS that you need to run this...

Hmmm good point - possibly check with Scan that they are on a newer firmware....

Found this on a review on Novatech:

Reports of problems with the firmware of drive proved untrue with this drive as manufacture date was Feb 2011, if drive pre-November 2010 get firmware update from Samsung. Otherwise no complaints. Does what it says on the tin. Too early to tell about reliability issues.

Knew i had seen it somewhere - you should be ok by now.
#17
good price.
#18
I was thinking this or the 2tb seagate green, I would like a caviar green but qnap does not support this drive. the seagte is only 56.00 and I know amazon will return anything with free postage back, no arguments.

I might be better off with the seagate, since its a green model for the single bay nas.

Would like a 3tb, but they are so expensive.

Nice catch. Ordered.

HOT...Many Thanks OP

I am a computer expert what builds 'CUSTOM' computers and that for 'CUSTOMERS' and I declare this deal HOT bcoz I used a couple and they worked!

Deathstars eh. Who'd buy them. Clickety click click.
#22
Would this or the F3 be best for gaming? I really only use my comp to play wow and some music/films
#23
Ive had to FORCE myself not to buy, as I have enough hard drives, and they're not even half full
Great deal, HOT
#24
a lot of negative reviews about this hard drive. Hmm shall i go for this for the 1tb f3 for £41?
#25
Please recommend a nas server to go with this. Must take atleast 2 drives.
#26
Alternatively, if all this talk of bootable memory sticks etc is sounding rather confusing, there's a bootable ISO here, which already contains a bootable FreeDOS image, with the necessary firmware update included: http://captaingeek.net/how-to/samsung-f4-ecogreen-f4eg-firmware-bug-patch/

Hope that helps!

look up the hp microserver - its on here - and the cashback has been extended by another month
#28
disappointed in amazon though - normally they seem to monitor this site (or their competitors) and price match - still 54.50 on their site

and the seagate is nearly £60!

I have a D-link DNS-323 for the last year and been really pleased with it. Seriously considering going for the DNS-320 and adding in two of these to replace it. DNS-320 is £63.99 from Amazon and Ebuyer.

F3 is faster and therefore a better boot drive. The F4 is more suitable for data storage.
#33
Bought one of these from Scan last month, it was a Z4 and had full UK warranty.
Pretty sure the Z4 just means something to do with 4k sector stuff, or means it has the latest firmware.

However some people in the past have said they've got grey warranty versions from Scan.

Note: most people would say not to use this as the main system drive and only as a storage drive due to it being slightly slower than other smaller drives, but it's a good speed for a drive of this size.

It was packaged really well btw, lots of bubblewrap, reckon i could have played rugby with it and it still be fine.
#34
How do I get free delivery through the links to this deal? When I go to checkout it is adding £3.99 delivery.
I have an AVforums account but don't see where this comes in to get free delivery?

Thanks
