I used to use powered drives, but found that I backed things up much less frequently because of the hassle of accessing a power point.

would a powered drive or portable b best to use with an xbox one?

Depends on if you enjoy having things plugged in for no reason I suppose.

Great deal. Tempted.

This one or the Samsung M3 from Amazon? Which brand is more reliable? Seagate from Argos is a no go, their reliability is questionable.

Should have just left it plugged in then. That's what I do with all of mine.

I've had bad experience with Toshiba portable drives. Even the slightest knock and all your data is gone.
#13
Been shopping around for a while and this is definitely the best price for a 2tb portable drive.

Decision for me now is do I get the silver one for £65 or this for £60???

I have Toshiba portable drives and they have been knocked about more than once and they always work fine.

I wish there was a comprehensive comparison out there, I just want a reliable drive for backup. I'm sure portable drives must be less reliable due to their small size and heat dissipation but I've no proof.

Is that the cheapest 2TB Desktop hard drive around, do you know? I'm looking for one myself, but will go with what ever is cheapest.
#18
Think I might just get this one, it's only for Xbox One and it has 2 year warranty anyway. Plus I've got vouchers to use so cash wise won't cost me too much.

It probably is but finding stock may prove difficult.

Is it possible that you could remove the hard drive from its bay and use it in a PS4?

Home as they are not portable.

Not suitable for me then. When I had a powered one, I never left it plugged in anyway. I use them for back up and leaving them plugged in anywhere (power / PC) leaves them more vulnerable to surges / data loss than isolating them completely.
