Powerline adapters are the ideal way of creating a home network or complementing an existing Wi-Fi connection. By providing a secure high speed connection and great service quality, Powerlines allow you to watch Standard and High Definition (HD) movies as well as play online games without interruption or pixilation; share photos, music and other media stored on a PC or compatible storage device anywhere in your home. Powerline Adapters will help you reach those areas of your home where Wi-Fi signal is either too weak or cannot reach. Other usages of Powerline adapters include IP-CCtv surveillance cameras, setting up an office network without the need to add more wires or rewire if you change your office configuration.

I already have these and would like to add another outlet, the one that my router goes into has an 'A' at the end of the serial number (showing you which one is which). Would it be ok to buy this pair for extra outlets? Can the 'A' one be used as an outlet?

am i right in thinking that this is saying 200mbps but they ship them with only cat5 cables so you will only achieve a speed not exceeding 100mbps.

If you want the supposed max speed this can give then you need to go out and purchase Cat6 replacement cables.

Mine struggle to send low bitrate HD movies (around 4mb/s) from one room to another when more than one device is connected to the network, so I doubt anyone will get more than 10mb/s let alone 100. So even if you went and bought the cat6 cables you'd notice no difference whatsoever. Still, theyre good enough for gaming (most of the time) at least.

Your still waaaaaay better off with these than wireless though.

You don't need Cat6 as Cat5 will be fine, they will work 100 each way, hence the 200Mbps label

I'm using Cat5 on a set of 200Mbps and get 180 and above but you need to half that.

These are good enough to stream HD Quality movies around your home.

The 200 mbps is actually correct, but a bit of a marketing ploy. As this is the Full Duplex Rate (data being transferred and received at same time) - this is 100mbps transmit, 100 mbps receive simply added together!

These still work ok but dont expect anything near 100mbps, in fact I dont think i get more than 10mbps - i haven't had any issues streaming to PS3 etc but then again I haven't tried anything HD.

Is that the same with the 85mb ones? 42.5 each way? Never used these before.

Hmm, my parents have 8 meg Orange ADSL (about 6 meg in reality) would you recommend the 85 meg Orange ones at £30, or these 200 meg BT ones at £40? No HS or video streaming, purely just internet access.
