Are these controllers really worth it?
#2
Yes they really are, the technology is brilliant. Whether they are worth it now, depends on whether the few games that are out are your sort of thing. Sports Champions works brilliantly, Start the Party is good bonkers fun for kids or parties, RUSE is the most playable RTS I've used on a console because of Move, then on PSN there's Tumble, Hustle Kings, PAIN, High Velocity Bowling... and more.

If you're only a die-hard shooter fan then no, probably not, at least until after Xmas when Killzone 3 and SOCOM come out. Or Time Crisis in November.

I'm confused, what do I need for the PS3, as there seem to be different items available...

starter packs
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.209-4651.aspx

navigation controllers
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.209-5616.aspx

move controllers
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.209-1783.aspx

I just wanted to be able to play a few games with the controllers, like the archery I saw advertised on TV (Something for the weekend), but I have no idea what items I need.

If you already have a camera (playstation eye) then all you really need is a move controller, you can use your existing controller instead of the navigation controller, there aren't any games that need that yet anyway. If you don't have the camera then get the starter pack. Note: don't get the starter pack based on the fact you get a disc with it, it's full of demos that are all available on the store for free.

You 100% need a PS Eye and the Move controller.
The Navi controller is not needed, but it would be better if you use it. (You can use a normal PS3 controller as a Navi if you want)

So i would say get a Starter Pack if it's the cheapest method. You get demos as well.

At some point you will probably need 2 Move controllers either to make game play better with 2 controllers or play with 2 people. If you dont have the eya camera then buy the Move starter pack its £39.70 at tesco & add this move controller & use the £10 off code giving you a total of about £58.40 which will mean you have the eye camera & 2 move controllers plus the demo disc.

No, that's the Navigation controller, these are the Motion controller, which are actually important.

Correct.£10 off a £50 spend . The code can only be used once per customer so if you want to use it again you will need to register a different email address.

I don't think Kinect will work with the PS3 oO

could you use this AND the 15% off code too? (_;)

good thinking.... so effectively could get the starter pack + extra controller for a total of £48.15 if my calculations are correct + double points = now could be the time for me to buy move!
#20
so which controller would you need to play heavy rain move edition, the navigation or the motion?

Only one code per transaction I'm afraid. TDX-RTHK is definately £10 off £50 though, I used it last week. Forgot to say for to hotdealsuk if it's the archery you want you can use one controller but it works better with two, i.e. one for the bow, one for the arrow.

From what I've seen you only need the move controller.

edit: and the camera

Useful for games like Archery on sports champion where having 2 move controllers help a lot....
#27
thanks for that negbobsqurepant, we were both kinda rite, you in fact need both the move and nav controller for heavy rain.... good deal, will go for the starter pack along with a nav controller :)

Need is subjective, sure it's more comfortable but Sony have always said that you can use the left-side of a standard controller instead of the navi. It will probably enhance the overall experience but you don't 'need' it, in the same way you 'need' a move controller and a camera.

I have 2 moves and a navi, I have yet to use the navi. (probably something to do with HMV still not delivering RE5 Gold) :(

yes what is the 15% code?

Good price for the controllers though, cheapest by far!

when you say the archery game uses 2 controllers......do you mean it uses 2 of the main ball controllers? Or that it uses both the main controller and the navi controller together?

You can use 2 of the Move controllers (the ones with the balls on) and it does make it a lot better. You don't have to though....

2 of the move controllers, the navi has no motion sensing what so ever.
One acts as the bow the other the arrow, you reach behind your back and hold down the trigger with one to pull out an arrow, then you move it closer to the other one and pull it back as if you were using a real-bow, then you aim and release the trigger to fire. It works very well.

I meant to say, as above (bigmo7) you can just use one, but 2 is better for this and the gladiator one where you have one move as a shield and one as the sword/weapon. My arms still hurt from 2 days ago btw lmao

You need the Motion, and either the Dual Shock or Navigation controller for movement.
Don't think you can play Heavy Rain Move with just a Motion controller.

Heat added and ordered, can't see them being much cheaper than that for a while yet.

I think they're referring to the Tesco Entertainment code FTSL15-1 it normally get's a sarcastic comment every time it's mentioned because "everyone's already used it" for the record I haven't used it yet. I don't think you'll be able to use it together with the £10 off £50 code though. I don't know if you can use it on Tesco Direct at all. Hope this helps..

I doubt it unless someone can confirm

Tesco Direct codes always begin with TDX...
