Don't forget to do your research before you go:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g580327-d504972-Reviews-H_Top_Olympic_Hotel-Calella_Catalonia.html

Rated number 28 out of 45 hotels. Not a good rating at all! Esp. if you're going to go all out and do All Inc.

Good find for the money but I can't help picturing scenes from Benidorm!

Looks like you can get 6% Quidco on this too! (£21.36 IF YOU BOOK FOR 2)
Thanks JB

we went to the costa brava and very nice too. This particular top hotel we did not stay in but we did visit and very nice too.
The advantage of the top hotels is u can dine at their sister hotels in the group ... so if u went on an excursion to next town u can go and have ur meal there... being all inclusive.

hmm, nice price but think I would rather spend a week in prison!!!

I'm going Costa Brava next Saturday, 5 days AI was just under £130 each for me and my mate
Don't think the weather is particularly hot but it's better than here!!

I stopped at this resort (Calella) about ooh, 4 or 5 years back now. Didn't stop at the Olympic but we did pass it a few times - probably 5 minute walk to the beach.

Was a bit grotty to be honest, not much to do there. There was quite a lot of construction going off when we were there though. Barcelona is a cheap/easy train ride away.

Nightlife was alright, I guess, bit like blackpool, but with the occasional Spanish person hiding somewhere.

Overall, nothing really spectacular.

Don't forget the extras i.e
Hold Baggage is not included in the price. Charges start from £14.00 per person per bag return.
Plus you'll need transfers or car hire.

To be honest you can probably get similar prices by booking flights via skyscanner and hotels through medhotels. At least that way you get more choice, and criteria it around your own needs.

For example using the same dates i can get return flights from my local airport, Bournemouth for £20 inc tax and the same hotel, all inclusive would cost me £147.20, hence £167.20 total.

We stayed in the Calella Palace Top Hotel last September, we went to the Olympic when we were being picked up for a trip. Calella Palace seemed slightly newer and less queues for food. You can go to any of the Hotels..................I thought it was fab...............2 adults and 3 kids we had a superb time.
Go on the Medieval Jousting night..........brillant fun for a tenner each including food wine and transport.............and you can SHOUT and CHEER all you want for your Knight !!
But then I dont have champagne taste and beer money.
If you want a fun cheap break this is perfect !!
Shame I cant afford it at the moment.

I guessed it would be a H Top Hotel - My advice is avoid like the plague - stayed in Olympic and 2 other ones (forced by my parents), and it was progressively worse each time.
I'm not going into detail but the food is the same for every hotel - every day - and so are the rooms: small and paper thin walls. Just go read reviews, oh and full of noisy Spanish kids till 3am.
Just my 2 cents.

Then again i don't i would really want to go to any of the costas again!

dont go in any less than 4* in this hotel chain, best ones are Pineda Palace,Amaika,Royal Beach and Royal sun in that order

And play the 'European Court of Human Rights' card for having suffered the indignity of 'slopping out' and you'll get 30K when you get out.

good price if you like the area i guess, we have just got back form royal star htop in lloret, dreadful place - hotel was o.k. it was a 4 star - but more like 3, but then the weather was dreadful too so didnt help. my feeling is that the htop hotels are so cheap they attract some undesirables who just go for the a.i. drink, as there were lots of fights in casino royale another htop in llorett, i think there was a fight in ours too, but thank goodness we missed it!! would not go back if it was free. heat added

To be fair chap, your right. I managed to drag a mate over there for a stag do last year as it worked out cheaper to fly to Spain, hire a car, drive to Calella and stay in the Hotel Santa Monica for 3 days than it was to spend 1 day and night in Bournemouth.

Yes the resort is straight out of Benidorm and was knee deep in German collage kids, however, they were a real hoot to go out drinking with in the evening and actually very good company. Barcelona is around a 45 minute drive/train ride away and is well worth getting a couple of days in there.

Basically if your after somewhere cheap and cheerful for less than a price of a London to Manchester train ticket, you can do a lot worse than a few days over in Spain.
