Just ordered £9 of these magazines, 3 for a £1 is brill seeing as some are £3.20 each. Magazines included in this offer are;
Radio times
Top Gear
Olive
Good Food
Easy Cook
Gardners World
Good Home
Wildlife
Music
History
Gardens
Homes and Antiques
Sky at Night
Focus
Country File
Who do you think you are
Doctor Who
Match of the Day
CBeebies

After you have received your 3rd issues then you just cancel the subscription, i have done this many times and there is never a problem. Even if you forget to cancel the subscription and the 4th issue is received, just ring them and they will sort it.

Why is this not a good deal, why has it gone negative already?
#2
It seems to me your signing up for an annual subscription rather than a quarterly subscription that you can cancel after the cheap 3 issues. That is normally the deal with these things as it says try 3 for £1.

I would have signed up for two or three of those but it could get messy.

I haven't voted as I am indifferent to this deal but...

...I haven't bought a magazine since the 90s. Everything you get in there is on the web but more updated and with more content.

I just don't get them anymore. Only thing I can understand is if you have a fetish for those mags that let you build a working model of cows stomachs etc where you pay 99p for the first issue and £28.99 for the rest and end up with a half built model cus the company goes bust half way through.

Also, most comic books are not online so I can understand buying them to...

...I suppose there is people who like to read on public transport that might buy them - but to subscribe?

Does anyone know if you get the free gifts with these magazines just as you would if you bought it in a shop? I'm thinking of the CBeebies magazine mainly which always has a little gift on it, thanks.

You subscribe because it’s often much cheaper than buying monthly. It can easily be 50% cheaper and my Radio Times subscription which was posted on HUKD is less than half price.

Deservedly so; perverts. :p

Well spotted as these don’t appear to be the usual £1 for 3 issues deal where it explicitly states that you can cancel and pay no more than £1.
It doesn’t state if there’s a minimum subscription period or not so it may be a good deal but it’s too risky without confirming it.

There is no problem with this offer, I had already signed up to 4 of these in the last few weeks. Easy Cook,Good Food and Top Gear were all 3 for £1 and Radio Times I got 12 issues for £1 on a previous deal.
There is no problem cancelling after the trial period, i have done it loads of times. I always cancel just after the first payment is taken.

So have I in the past but these deals aren’t described in the same way and nowhere does it say they are Trials so it’s not safe to assume the terms are the same.

I agree entirely the point that buying magazines is waste of money and time, no matter how much they cost.

The only time it's ever worth while is when there's something exclusive on the cover, like a CD or DVD or something. Otherwise there's nothing in them you can't find out on the internet for free. Especially once you sift through all the tedious gossip content.

Why should we be even vaguely interested in your opinion on magazines!

We pay enough in TV tax to the BBC already - you are just encouraging them by paying them more.

I have ordered them for a couple of years now, never messy, always straight forward and never a problem when you cancel after the 3 for a £1.

I have never had the cbeebies before, but other magazines that have free gifts, eg calenders, extra recipe books etc i have always received.

There is no problem with cancelling, i have ordered many before in the past and cancelled many after the first 3 been issued.

8. Can I request a refund or cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time and we will refund you for all the issues that have been not mailed.

That is a quote from the help section of the bbc magazine shop website.

I'm subscribed to Cosmopolitan on a 12 for £12 offer and never get the free gifts that come if you buy them in a shop. Not sure if it would be the same with the BBC magazines though.

:whistling: Actually you're helping to offset future increases by buying from BBC Worldwide, which plunges its profits straight back into programme-making.

I ordered Top Gear magazine and the first issue came with James May's book.

The magazine was rubbish though so have already cancelled my DD.

I always get the PC Buyer, Computer Shopper and more recently, the Auto Express magazines and never have a problem cancelling the subscription. Infact, when you call them to cancel they advise you that the outstanding mags will be delivered as normal so you still get everything for £1.

Stop being miserable, this is a great deal for people who like to read and not sit glued to a computer screen all day.
