If you're looking for a decent but cheap lappy, then the Medion P6512 currently on offer at Aldi might also be of interest. This was £499 when it came out three months ago but has now been dropped to £349 (see link)...

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys2_11712.htm

As well as being cheap, this thing contains a decent entry level dedicated graphic cards so it should be able to play some 'real' games as well as do the usual internet/office stuff that almost all computers can do these days.

BTW, don't believe all the negative stuff you hear about Aldi & Medion. I've had my Medion P6620 lappy for over a year now and it's been a brilliant machine.

tbh i dont think any are that great
vs sony would rather have the cheaper brand new (3gb ram though) samsung
others dont seem that great either tbh
ex demo surely means alot of hours have been put into laptop already even if refurbed first
#3
ex demo is open box , open box is tock that has been sitting on high st shelves , never used so it s brand new and it surpringl comes in cheaper then refurb nomally , btw the samsung is 4gb ram

Would this not be a better buy

Sony clearance site has this on offer seems good value to me.

wrong - from misco
"The term ‘ex demo’ is used to describe products used as display or example model by well known electronics retailers and they are no longer suitable for sale as new" ie the ones pc world have up and running constantly.
i was not talking about your samsung deal i was talking about a better one from comet which is new: here

sony site is mix of refurb and clearance which are clearly stated. also all come with standard as new warranty.
sony site is standard warranty and the clearance ones are NEW, just discontinued. i suppose you have never looked to say the prices are near rrp.

ah so you looked now to see prices lower than rrp..would have been 1200 or so on release yes and its vastly superior to every machine posted here.
i got the same spec 40quid cheaper (7home not ultimate) being delivered right now.
the ram alone in that machine costs over 200quid.

they were instock on 30th as thats when i placed order, there were even better deals (and more than shown on site) earlier in the day
the lower but 1080p screen one is still shown for 342 though i missed it.
the one linked to was shown instock online yesterday but not the others - were some good sr ones albeit pink yesterday too.

lol i tried buying that FW but all out of stock, even rang them up yesterday
#13
thise porices dont exisit mate - sony would never sell sioemthing £800 below and screw there own market up - they prob had 1 of each to begin with l, in the real world you cant reallky compare that to what else is is out there , these are just one off if they existed

open box is also returns , impulse buys , people buy and change there minds
#14
the sony wasnt open box, it is clearance as they dont stock the FW series instore anymore for instance so they are probably clearing them out, from there price for it its not £800 under its like £350 but that seems odd as the components i pressume would be worth a riddic amount... i didnt list it on here yesterday purely because i actually wanted to try get one but stony have been having real website issues recently but some people managed to snap them up so they exist, dont hate because you didnt know, id have probably got the vaio from misco if it wasnt ex display.....

The FW5 was posted last month and loads of us couldn't get it then , seems they were clearing the last few.

you going to learn to read some day?
those price were REAL
my laptop arrives TODAY
MANY people ordered and have done many times in the past
they are NOT open box - they are NEW which yours are NOT
your deal is not good no matter how much rubbish you make up - hope the capitals make this clearer for you i am sick of repeating myself.

It was available when I posted , I was going to buy it . He who hesitates is lost . It is worth checking the Sony clearance site regularly as there seems to be a lot of good offers .

the power of that insult is terrific
bearing in mind my sony is brand new and far better than any of these...

..could you even afford a sony if it wasn't poor spec, run into the ground, touched by grubby mitts in pcworld then refurbed...*hyperventilates*...you chav!
