The problem is HUKD's money grabbing link re-writer. They alter the links you type in, so as to make themselves money.

Exactly the same unit is £52.99 in Halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_183849_langId_-1_categoryId_165629 and I have seen it in other places at around the £30 and £25 mark, making this particularly good value.

I just keep an old car battery topped up with a solar charger and use jump leads myself. Only thing with these is the need to keep them charged up every so often. They lose charge so if you buy it, charge it, then need it in a good few months, it will probably need charging again to work.

I have one of these and it is not powerful enough to start a 2 litre diesel with a dead battery - ok as a top up if your own battery still has some charge in it, otherwise only ok for petrol.

knowing the quality of maplins stuff this will last 1 week before disintegrating into a pile of molten plastic/metal/components

I bought one of these despite reading how bad they are. I had a power devil one in same case that lasted years. I decided to get one of these. Absolutely terrible purchase. When I did need it was not powerful enough. Ended up being a big torch. I ended up throwing it away down the tip. I've even noticed at least one at the tip everytime I go there. Better off reading a review on auto express and buying a recommended one.
