and yes although the toolkit is cheap...it does do the job...although admittedly not for long...but its a freebie so who cares...oh and maybe its your breathe that causes the rust...not the fact the toolkit is cheap! hehe! :-P

Nope....it's this one they're referring to.

These deals have been around for as long as I can remember, it's merely the free tat that varies.

Got the Magna Light on PC Pro. :)
It's stupid that these magazines aren't willing to produce a no-dvd edition which should theoretically be cheaper than even the old cd edition. There are so many good magazines packed with good stuff like GamesTM that have no rubbish DVD on the front cover putting more money into articles etc. PC magazines are over-priced with their DVDs - much better to get the 3 for £1 every now and then.

There was an editorial in PC Pro a while back about producing a no-disk issue. The research they did indicated that no one would buy it though.
Tbh, I'm not sure the DVD adds that much to the cost of manufacture - but it is a great excuse to bump up the cover price.

That's because they didn't mention the price when they did the poll. If its the same price then you're getting less for the same price. There was a £1 or more price difference between the CD and DVD edition. Logic would dictate that the no disc edition would be cheaper than the CD edition and this would encourage more people to subscribe on an annual basis.
I think that £20 every 6 months is the max that the magazine can really charge. £25 puts it at over £4 / issue. I know some people say there isn't much in it. True if that's the only thing you buy in life, but when you buy lots of other things including other magazine subscriptions and the fact that you throw away a DVD every time PC Pro comes through the door and the fact that you used to subscribe to the cheaper CD edition, its much better to take out the 3 for £1 plus free gift every now and then.

My bad. Change that to 'usual tat'.
Even more reason to vote this repeat post cold. :|
It was cheaper and with more stuff.
The deal is good ( I grabbed it about 2 years ago) , but I would want to pay less than half of face value before I bothered again, only worth getting if you subscribe.
