 Cheers Rayman. You could spend the rest of your life paying £1 for 3 months of magazines. How do they make a profit? Im taking advantage of 3 offers at the minute.

A WORD OF CAUTION!!!

I never got my bl00dy toolkit.
I'm 2 months into the subs.

lr
#4
I haven't got mine either yet, but it states in the subsinfo that they're on order. If you e-mail them or call them, they'll let you know when you should receive it.
#5
this is a cracking offer, i have 5 diff magazine subscriptions on the go!
#6
Thanks for the heads up - I'll add this to my AutoExpress and Evo £1 subscriptions....

It's getting complicated remembering when to cancel!!

toolkit looks good

magazines like this probably make their money from the adverts inside
id expect anything they make from sales is just a bonus

also the more sales they boast the greater the revenue they can generate from advertising

You got it! The way these magazines make money is by showing to various potential advertisers that they have a healthy X million subscribers at any given time. The only other catch is them banking on us forgetting to cancel after the 3rd issue and even if only 10% forget they have those 10% as new subscribers who would have otherwise not joined.

Make sure you leave a reminder somewhere to cancel well in time as they have your DD details and the next 6 months subscription will go through automatically.

If you play the game right then it is a win - win for both parties.

It says 'PC Pro DVD', does that mean you get a DVD disk rather than a Magazine :?

I believe you still get the magazine too, just that the free disc you get with it is a DVD rather than CD-Roms

Have been a loyal subscriber since...great mag. Will let it lapse soon and take advantage of this deal!

Any quidco profit??
#18
It says this on the sign up page

I understand I can write to cancel within my 3 issue for £1.00 trial period and pay no further money - no questions asked. My FREE gift and 3 issues for £1.00 will be mine to keep whatever I decide.

Does that mean it will let you cancel as soon as you subscribe?

For those collecting ipoints this is one of their hot deals with 70 points for taking up the £1 offer. They've also got the Autoexpress deal with 40 points.

I think what you can do if you have online banking is wait for the £1 to go through and it should then show as a direct debit. With my bank you can delete the direct debits online. I have done this with a previous mag sub (Mens Health I think) and it seemed to have worked.

Would be interested to know if anyone else has done this and whether they have had any probs. My thinking is that once you delete the direct debit you need to complete another mandate for it to go through again so it should be relatively foolproof as long as the T&C's do not commit you to more than the initial 3 issues.

Not the recommended action

By signing up to the deal you effectively create a contract that agrees you will pay for future editions and you will do that by direct debit. By cancelling the direct debit you will be in breach of that contract and the publisher would be well within their rights to pursue you for any due money.

I'm not saying this will happen, just that they would win a case if they so decide to pursue it. Best way to cancel the contract is to follow the terms of that contract about how to cancel. i.e. give them official notice that you wish to terminate the contract.

When you subscribe, they provide access to a web page to manage your account etc.
Currently it says they are waiting for new stock of the toolkit.

The FAQ section says you can cancel and get a refund at any time up to two weeks after receiving the third issue - but you must send a letter to them to do this. (it is a freepost address).
So, If you decide to cancel, I suggest you send the letter as well as stopping the direct debit and you are covered.

Has anybody actually received the tool kit?
It is well over the 28 days but I've not received the free gift.
#25
Not received here yet, but it does show in the http://www.subsinfo.co.uk as awaiting stock. Perhaps an e-mail or phone call would help :)
#26
dean_brfc appears to have received one :)

Hehe :) I've received them in the past and they've been fairly slow getting them sent out, but they do arrive eventually. I wonder if dean_brfc's was from last year though.
