What do people think of PC Pro these days? I used to rate it the best out there - there was nothing that came close. Now I think that PC Advisor is better especially when it comes to giving you an up to date list of what components you should be looking for for each price range and also does that with PCs and laptops, whereas PC Pro only maintains an A list which is good for something like maybe a camera, but i bit rubbish otherwise. The articles are more surreal these days in PC Pro also and definately not worth the extra £10 per year (£5 every 6 months) IMHO.

Have you ever bought PC Pro ? You appear to think the magazine comes on DVD. The magazine is paper (although a digital download version is also available) with a DVD (or alternative CD) that consists of software, some full product, some trial versions.

It is the paper magazine, but with an attached DVD, with various (mostly crappy, some useful) programs on.

Yep, tend to agree, rather gone off the boil a bit, but well worth 33p per issue, would not now subscribe at the 'full price' (have done in the past).

It's too full of adverts.
I prefer Computeractive and Webuser.

Nope I've never bought it, why do they name it 'PC Pro DVD Edition''? Is there a non DVD Edition?

Seems strange!

All good. Did this a year or two ago. Has all gone through fine for me now.

Subscribed!

Just need that reminder of when to cancel don't I :p

Halfway thru this promotion, I'd certainly rate it better than computer active, that was always a bit "push the button on the front to then it on" for me, tho I've cancelled after my first 3 and done the same deal with Bizarre for a free petrol lighter. There's a lot of different mags with the same deal from the same publisher

You mean CA is more "hands on" than adverts and articles about goods that the normal person can't afford?

Have been a subscriber for the last 10 years and I still find it good, if not quite as good the last 2+ years from a review point of view. I get the professional Enterprise edition where they review servers, switches and so on which has been quite useful. Going to stop my subscription now though as it's got too expensive. The A-list feature is okay, but isn't updated regularly enough to be particularly useful. Wish they'd drop the CDs/DVDs on the front cover now though - all very useful in the pre-broadband days, but I never look at them nowadays. Also I find some of the contributors (not all of them) are a bit like Russian dolls: full of themselves.

They could do with a bit of a shake up (and I don't think it would take much) to get back on top form - I might just subscribe again then. :)

So how do I cancel this guys?

They used to be good. My best find was Delphi Personal 7 on the cover, RRP £93, but that was about a decade ago. Trouble is, all the software has been written already and the reviews have tended to admire 'build quality' and such intangibles while holding a stopwatch over the machines which are pretty much otherwise indistinguishable. Still a leading PC Mag, just the internet has taken a huge chunk of their readership.

Got my first mag, and torch arrived other day. Cancelled subscription now.

Just a reminder for others to do the same. :)

You will have to e mail PC Pro with your subs number, as their subscription service you log into oddly enough doesn't offer a cancellation option.
