**** Offer starts 23rd of December *****

Once the turkey has been eaten, the presents have been unwrapped and the champagne has been popped, there isnt much left to celebrate except for 3s brand spanking new tariff: Mix & Match 100. Available from Monday for a market leading £9 per month you can now get all your mobile needs and still have change from a tenner!

Mix & Match 100 isnt just Britains best value tariff, it is Britains first single-digit tariff.

No other operator has dared to go under the £10 mark but as ever, 3 has taken the lead to prove that your mobile phone bill doesnt have to be an additional worry during these tough times.

Available in-store and online from 23rd December 2008, Mix & Match 100 includes 100 minutes or texts (or any mix of the two), free voicemail, 300 3 to 3 minutes, free Skype chat and calls and free Windows Live Messenger.
You might think that such a great offer would mean SIM only or a clunky old 2G phone, but on the contrary with Mix & Match 100 you can pick up the Sony Ericsson K660i absolutely free. The stunning 3G phone is HSDPA enabled allowing you to quickly and easily surf the net with brilliant page viewing quality. It comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera with 2.5 x zoom and video camera. The K660i is available in silver on black or lime on white, which is an exclusive colour for 3.
Marc Allera, Sales & Marketing Director, 3 UK said Delivering value to consumers has always been a priority, thats why were the first and only mobile network to try to take the worry out of at least one bill a month with the UKs first ever £9 tariff. The current economic climate means that were more committed than ever to finding ways to pass savings to consumers.

No other companies will introduce Skype on their mobile for £9. BTW, contract should be 18 months max and you can upgrade/change your mobile after 12 months.

first £9 tarrif....hmm what about the £6 tariff from talk mobile with a 1 month cancellation for 50mins and 100 texts?
we have it and its a good deal

3 sucks as a network i am afraid

OK I know skype etc may only work with a three supplied phone but if you just want the 100 mins for £9 can you do a sim only?

Not that I know but you can always sell the phone if you want and use the sim elsewhere. It fetches around £40 online (certainly more at CEX)

Why do people say Three's coverage is bad? They have the most extensive 3G network and use Orange for their 2G coverage. If you want to experience bad coverage, switch to T-Mobile, then you'll know!
#16
I've been with 3 for over 3 years and no problems so far!!! ... When you threaten to cancel their contract at the end of the period, they offer REALLY good deals ... I got 750mins, 250 texts, £5 downloads, 25 or 50 mms and 25 or 50 video mins ... £5/month for the rest of my life ... 7 months free to get me going! .... BARGAIN! ... I can't wait to go back with them!!!
#17
don't 3 use o2 for 2g coverage? well they did a few years back when i used them.
as for selling the phone and using the sim in another handset, just read the t&c for 3 mobile and you might find you carn't. i did this and they switched me off!!! the little ******s that they are, luckily i got out of the contract and didnt have to pay but that was using trading standards and a lot of grief
there call centers are based in India even though Glasgow is quoted for a mail addy. the call centers were a nightmare to use, got to be the worst ive used
but all in all if you have no issues, EVER, then when it works the 3 is a good network its just i had a bad time :-(

Three are okay - my daughter's used them for 18 months and says they're okay. Especially for internet stuff. No hassle with coverage too. So I wouldn't be put off.

Plus, their retentions department are pretty flexible. We just got a Tocco on the 950 talk and text for £16 p.m.

Will current customers be able to downgrade to this?!

Even if it is 3 years it's still not bad - nobody needs a new phone every 12 months! I have found the customer service to be equally as bad from all phone companies to I wouldn't use this as a reason to avoid 3!

Been with 3 for only 2 months very good signal, good cust serv, can't complain Orange b4 these and they really suck big time would not use them if they were the only network aval......the worse cust serv ever, ever, ever, ever

You can use a different handset but it has to be a 3G handset. They have to pay Orange/O2/whoever it is to use the 2G services so if you dont use a 3G phone they will cut you off.
#23
worst coverage in all the networks, and yes I have been on them all over the years.

3 is great if you want "emergency calls only"..

been with them for 13 months another 5 to go then I'm off....

oh but i did use a 3g handset ( supplied by 3 themselves!!) , thats what so strange, they even knew which phone i used
but like i say, if you have no issues there as good/bad as the rest

These threads are ridiculous.

Person X: 3 have great customer service and excellent coverage.

Person Y: 3 have the worst coverage and awful customer service.
#26
I'm a long time 3 customer, FWIW I found network service adequate and CSRs ok. To coint another TLA, YMMV.
#27
what about Person Z: 3 have good coverage but awful customer service ??

but back on track its a good deal but there are better, you pays your money you take your chances, like everything in life
#28
me and the missus have been on '3' for 18 months now and have never had probs, both of us have just resigned with them mix and match 500 for a tenner a month.. we like the 'MY3' service.
#29
There seems to be so many conflicting views regards 3 mobile telephone coverage and service.

And their mobile broadband has had plenty of unhappy customers.

Personally I'm not keen on long contracts especially if the service has so many detractors.

Please understand that the coverage varies from place to place. So both statements are 100% accurate. I was once on Orange and found very difficult to get a signal whereas a friend in a different city thought Orange was very good.
#31
Can only be a good deal if the company has good after sales, which it hasn't so voted COLD.

Worst customer service bar none.

Will never be back with them after this contract finishes.
#32
I'm in the great coverage dreadful customer services camp. Coupled up with their prices if they could only sort out the CS then imho they could clean up in the UK.

Regarding using non-3 supplied phones, yes I understand they will block you if you use a 2G phone but I have not used a 3 supplied phone since I started dealing with them two and a half years ago (though I appreciate it is against their t's and c's). Used 4 different handsets in that time and never had any problems with them as they have all been 3G phones.
#33
Two penneth.

I've had three contracts with 3 over the years (a cashback 12-month-free which I cancelled, another cashback 12-months-free which I renewed as £10 SIM-only with £240 acount credit, and the most recent one an 18-month MM1100 with £7 off per month - I've always seemed to miss the good retention deals.).

Coverage for me has been fine. When they used O2 2G coverage was excellent, 3G has always been good in the areas it's known to be good i.e. cities, along motorways and major roads, etc. My main gripe with them moving to using Orange is that I can no longer browse the internet while in a 2G area - either Orange drop 3 customers to the bottom of the pile or 3 have a block so they don't have to pay for it. In 3G areas, however, internet access is fine, and for everything else 2G seems fine.

As far as customer service goes, this all depends on who you get at the other end - the same with any company. I have spoken to people I've had trouble understanding (more down to headset than accent) who have little idea what I'm after, and then I've spoken to exceptionally competent people who have given me what I wanted in 30 seconds flat (I wanted a PUK code for my first contract phone). Most recently I spoke to someone about the broadband modem I bought someone for Christmas not working under Linux and they did their best to try and solve the problem (even though all I was after was a swap, though since then I got it working, see ubuntuforums.org and search for ZTE MF627). So overall, customer services are mixed but about what you would expect.

Broadband is a little different. 3 do not allow roaming off their 3G network, obviously down to the costs involved. So if you live in a 2G area or ever want to use mobile broadband in a 2G area, forget it. Or use your phone SIM - though again, although it will connect it will likely not work most of the day.

I've been with three over 2 years and never had a problem with coverage. Will be getting this one for my daugher, thanx

Anything that makes other suppliers rethink their pricing is usually good for the consumer.

I'm sure all the other networks will have their lawyers checking the fine print and claims too.

name a mobile phone company that has 'good customer service'
they are all rubbish:whistling:

Yeah but normally better if the customer service team can speak English...:x

You only have to look through this thread to see that the company just doesn't cut it. Half of the people that have replied have said that the coverage and or customer service is poor. Thats 50%, not a high percentage of a good company if you ask me.
#40
My two pence - Coverage is good where I live and at work, no problems there but when I "upgraded", they got me on another contract which I didn't agree to and wouldn't let me cancel when I pointed this out when I received my bill as I had "used the mobile to send and receive calls and SMS messages". I'll be cancelling when my contract is up next year and advise everyone to steer clear of 3...
