I got one of these months ago when they were last on offer and they were sold-out in around 2 days so don't hang about if you want one.

Taking in to account the airtime included and the fiver from Quidco it aint a bad deal for a net outlay of around 15 quid!

Fill yer boots!

thanks for the post, but i would not recommend this phone

1. the joystick is really hard and fiddly. The edges of the joystick are sharp and feels like a razor!
2. If you want java games- they can only be installed on WAP. only WAP
3. the ringtones for messages are built in and can not be changed.
4. no zoom facility on images
5. the biggest error on this phone is the camera- the end result in photos is pretty poor, especially in dim light... would have expected much much better for a 3MP camera.
6. the screen is quite small, and when the sunlight shines on in you can not view the screen at all.
7. the camera also does not have a flash (again bad for low light photos)
8. poor web browser

thanks for post anyway- sorry for being so negative but defenitley not one for me even at this price

I bought this phone last time round for the same price. I am very disappointed with the camera, previously I had a Nokia 6300 and the camera was much better than this one. I too do not like the joystick. Although it was cheap for a so called 3 meg camera phone, I still think it´s an ugly little phone and wish I had not bothered. The resale value on CEX etc is low.

Bit more in depth review with pics etc here......

Agree with most of the comments above especially about the joystick but having used Sony Ericssons before i didn't really find it any different to those.

HTH,

Interesting. Considering with Quidco you are essentially getting this phone for £15 I think some of those point are irrelevant. 2,3,7,8 I couldn't care less about tbh.

There's Bluetooth, FM radio, mp3 player, micro SD card slot and 3MP (perhaps not great) camera. Where else do you get that for £15? Seems like a bargain to me.

That should be IF quidco tracks. There have been a number of cases where quidco has not tracked for things like this recently, which turns a good deal to a bad deal. Deals should not include quidco to make them a deal, since it is not guaranteed.

True, but quidco says:

"Cashback for a confirmed Samsung E590 Silver PAYG Sale on Orange will track @ £5 and be validated in at month end at £15."

Which of course is no guarantee, but it's quite unusal for a specific phone to be on offer on Quidco AFAIK.

Still seems like a decent price even at £30.

I have been using this phone for the past year or so, and it cost me 89.99 when i bought it. I have no complaints, its a robust phone that does exactly what i need.

Has a expansion slot for a microSD card, I'm currently using a 1gb(i think it supports upto 2gb)

This is a simple slim light phone, and I'm pretty sure you can install java apps with the supplied cable,

use *#8999*5282# to enable the java upload facility i think...

Yep i got this phone with my contract year ago. its poop. thorougly dissapointing. but ok as a cheap phone. so ill vote hot anyways as still better than the basics just not great. as stated camera is rubbish.

but on a plus it is really slim so women with tite jeans dont look like they have huge bums when in bum pocket he he

I need a new phone but i'm on 3 !! Have no idea what to get my W850i sony ericsson has just about given up the ghost !! Anyone got any ideas? xxxxxxxxxxxx
#16
hi, the topup - is it already on the sim or is it a voucher (so you could swap in your old orange sim and use the topup on that)? cheers
#17
I've had this phone for about 6 months now and I have to say that so far I'm very happy with it.

If you are after a great camera phone or something with all the bells a whistles then maybe this isn't for you. But if, like me, you just want a lightweight, inexpensive and easy to use phone then I would definately recommend this. Great find.
#18
I've taken on board what everyone has said and I've gone for one anyway. I've been using my o2 ice for over a year now (and that is certainly classed as a 'rubbish phone') and I wouldn't replace it if it wasn't falling to bits. For me a phone is just that - I don't want bells and whistles. I like the Samsung interface and I like the look of it so that'll do me for £30 (I'm on o2 so I will sell the £10 top up :) )
#19
mine arrived today and so far been really pleased with it.

Hi...

Thought this deal had died on its a**e!.
Bit shocked to see it revived and people finding it useful. :)

Anyway....

Carphonewarehouse always give you a brand new sim and the airtime is applied to that so sadly no voucher to use on an existing number.Believe me..i've asked them that a few times.

Hmmm.... 3 hours, and mine still haven't tracked. I wonder if it's worth considering cancelling the order and re-order?
#30
its been this price for a long time now , got all the features but is not nice to use.
#31
To those who are moaning about the features and usability of this phone....

It's 30-fricking-quid! Find me another brand new phone that has Bluetooth, 3.0MP Autofocus camera with video, MicroSD slot and is THAT tiny.

Really people, it's £30, it's a fantastic bargin.
#32
Seems like a bargain- too good to be true? Anyway just ordered through quidco came up with a transaction tracking problem so lowered firewall settings and went through ok to CPW website tp place order, normally by next day quidco tracks, I bought another recently from CPW which tracked ok but cant remember how long it took to register on quidco........
#33
Update. My order has been tracked on quidco so took less than one hour.
#34
Seems a reasonble deal for a decent spec phone that's not going to break the bank, would say the £15 Quidco is a deal clincher. Orange themselves have a recon in black with only 6months warranty at £39.99 with no airtime or CB! Even better deal if the CPW deal does indeed come unlocked.

#35
My quidco has tracked, so if I take the £10 airtime off the phone was only £15!! Super hot, my o2 ice was £25 and I thought that was a steal ;)

I can vouch for CPW phones being unlocked - I buy whichever is cheapest from there and ignore the network because they are always unbranded and unlocked (generic software).

Looking forward to getting a phone tomorrow which doesn't rattle when I pick it up and doesn't switch itself off when I am charging it...!

Got mine today after reading about it here and I am so impressed with the value for money. It is unlocked - put my Virgin sim in and it worked no bother. Loads of features for a bargain price - I've been umming and aahing over far more expensive phones this week - only to read reviews which said they were dreadful - it seems that if you look at any phone, people say they are 'rubbish'. I want it to phone, text and take the odd snap. Job done.

It is quite small and my fingers suddenly seem massive, but for essentially £15 and no delivery charge - how can you complain? - there is so much packed into it. Total bargain.

Quidco tracked for me no problem - although I hadn't read the bit that said it would only track at £5 to start with and was most put out!
