Hi all,

After years of blagging all the deals that everyone posts, I finally have one of my own (i hope!!).

A few months back there was a post for half price mobile broadband from the Three network for existing cutomers. That was instore. This one is online and maybe be subject to Quidco????

The prices are as follows:

up to 1gb £5 per month with free dongle (usually £10 per month)
up to 3gb £7.50 per month with free dongle (usually £15 per month)
up to 7gb £12.50 per month with free dongle (usually £25 per month)

Quidco offers £37.50 for 1gb or 3gb option and £80 for the 7gb option.
N.B. Please note I have not ordered this as yet so do not know if Quidco works on this deal.

I am looking to order but wanted to know if the line is a dynamic ip or static ip? I need a dynamic ip. One for the techies

.
THIS OFFER IS NOT FOR NEW CUSTOMERS AS STATED IN THE TITLE.

It'll be a NAT'd dynamic IP from their gateway which seems to be based in the far east, IMO it is NOT a substitute for a proper broadband routed connection but rather a supplementry connection for when you are not at work/home etc.

But for £5/m to have net anywhere where there is coverage and if you need it for light usage, that's very good, although I have seen the £5/m offer before, just not with Quidco, also if this is current customers this is limited to very few people..

Yeah, it is definately a dynamic IP. Works really well for me though. Unlike most, I do use it as my complete broadband substitute. If you use ICS and a crossover cable, it gets the PS3 online with a good ping 90% of the time. Some games that use P2P connections are awkward but most of them are fine like COD4 etc. I should point out thought that my signal is nearly always HSDPA. When I have travelled and got just 3g it is relatively poor. Hope that helps just one person.

£5 x 18 = £90 - £37.50 = £52.50.

Assuming I get quidco this is a good price!!!!!!!

DAMN NO RAF! The box comes up but it's says in T&C excludes broadband!

dont forget the 2x£30, refer your other mobile number for £30 Credit

ahhh - now ther is a reason to have a 3 mobile contract! Does any one know any way around this - no free sim cards I'm guessing!
#8
I have the 3gb allowance. It is connected for at least 3 hrs a day surfing the net, reading mail and even youtube etc, probably download about 20 songs per month too. In addition, I play about 20 hours per week on PS3 which uses around 8-12mb per hour. I usually get to within the last 100mb of my allowance but have never gone over.
#9
It looks to me like you do get quidco for this.
According to quidco site you get this actually:
£8 for Mobile Broadband LITE (MB1) 12 month on 1GB or 3GB
£37.50 for Mobile Broadband PLUS (MB2) 18/24 month on 1GB or 3GB
£80 for Mobile Broadband MAX (MB3) All 7GB

I'm really curious about how 3 come to their figures for what you can get on these tariffs!

1 GB gets you
30 hours web surfing
+ 650 emails
+ 60 downloaded music tracks
+ 30 downloaded videos

I just dont get how 650 emails can remotely come to 1GB - unless of course they think you have 1MB + attachments with each?

I'd like to take up this half price deal, but it aint gonna happen as I dont want their phone service. A shame, but there you go!

It does say 30 hours browsing PLUS 650 emails PLUS 60 tracks Plus 30 vids....

I think you need a contract so a PAYG SIM won't help.

I am really interested in this deal and think I will take them up on it as a roaming internet option for my laptop, not as my main broadband (which is with virginmedia)
I do have a 3 contract on my mobile which I think is really good value for money. I particularly like the fact that I get free Skype (so have FREE voicecalls with others on skype) and FREE MSN which means I dont text so much, use MSN instead which is essentially the same but better cos you get threaded conversations. I have the 300 mins option and dont use up all my minutes but spend hours on the phone using skype and MSN instead of using my minutes. I am not sure many people realise just how good and usefull free skype and MSN are.

Can someone recommend good software for tracking how much bandwidth you are using?

Their £20 1100 minutes/texts/mix + 300 "3 to 3" minutes tariff with some decent free phones is a good deal IMHO, but I do believe that P&G customers can avail of this.

Also if there is a chance you may use Linux (e.g. EEE PC) you should I believe go for the Hanui (SP?) not the black with green ZTE MF622 (which I got then used to buy my EEE PC - a HUKD of course). I am close to getting the ZTE working, but apparently you need to recompile the USBSERIAL.ko file or AIRPRIME.ko to use it - this as I am finding out is not that easy - to do so you need to download the source (not working from Asus last night) OR the kernel (working) but still unsure which. I am sticking at the task & have a list of useful links (if anyone wants them, post a link to a misc thread & I'll post them there). If anyone has a recompiled EEE Xandros compatible airprime.ko which includes the MF622, name your price!!!

EDIT2: Misc thread (as requested by PM) http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/170090/showthread.php?p=1883137

I remember I paid £10 a month for 2mb 1GB limit with NTL (I think) back in the day!

For £5 this is a damn good deal!!!

Can we use £20 accessory voucher with this?

Will it work with other Linux versions? I (will be) using openSUSE when my HP 2133 comes, want to get it for that!

Don't want to take this too far off topic, but they both should, but for novice Linux users (like me) the hanui one will be much easier to use is the impression I am getting. I must emphasise all this comes from 1 week of research as a novice Linux user - YMMV.

Funny bunch 3 Mobile.

I called them last week to see if they had any offers on for mobile broadband - I am an existing customer with 2 contract phones ( had them since last summer & very leased with the service) & the girl at their customer services said no offers were available or likely to become available! After this I couldnt be bothered looking on their website! Anyway, just saw this deal on here so voted hot & I've just signed up!

Like above, I've gone for the 3GB option, same modem, put in my 3mobile acct number & instead of £7.50/month it's come up at £5!!

Just waiting for quidco thingy to show it's face & I will be well chuffed.

Cheers OP.

Just to say I got a DD letter stating the full price, but the bill did have the correct amount (to my relief) - must check the bank statement....

...yep both DD's correct - £5 for mine & £7.50 for the wife's. Tempted to get another just to get a Hanui modem - hmm.

I was in the "3" shop today asking about their mobile dongles. They have a Sony Ericsson Mobile on contract for just 6 months that you can purchase to enable the half price offer. The phone works out at £15/month (£90 over the term). Don't ask me which model, all I know was that it had a 2 MP camera. Hope this helps someone.
#28
Could you use this with one of their six month Skype phone contracts to initiate it?

Also - as their phones roam without "roaming" (ie no fees and using your normal call allowance) in other 3 countries (ireland and denmark spring to mind) - would this work with roaming too?
#29
Great product but be very careful if you go over your package and if you roam. I have the Vodafone mobile BB which is all you can eat for £30 a month (£15 if you don't exceed 3gig) and they have roaming bolt on packages.
#30
Can anyone tell me what speed on average they attain?

Also has anyone been paid Quidco, if yes, how long did it take?
#31
anyway you can use with the xbox 360? I am really tempted seems stupidly cheap

Where is this deal please?

From what I can see it costs £15 per additional gig, which is slightly more expensive.

I think that you can use it in countries where there is a 3 network. So 3 in australia.

You can do this with your inclusive minutes. but I'm not sure about broadband.

I recommend DU Meter but it's also worth checking out BitMeter and NetLimiter.

assistant in "3" shop said supposedly 3.6 but actually about 2.6 megabits or whatever they are.

I find it weird people still buy this broadband thing.

I have a Sony Ericsson mobile, with X-series addon (£5 per month ) for free msn, skype and full internet.

I just connect it to my laptop with usb cable or bluetooth and get on the net. I've never been charged extra for this and works really well.

Apparently x-series allows 3GB per month so its far better than buying that broadband deal.

I thought it had been determined that this wasn’t officially supported as per their Terms & Conditions:

“Please remember that the X-Series services are for your personal use only and do not include using your mobile as a modem with your PC or laptop.”
