Terrible terrible coverage - DON'T BUY THIS!!!

I get HSDPA at home and 3G at work. Really quick for me. Obviously it's no good if you need it where coverage isn't available but 3 have the best population coverage in the UK now.

Never had a problem in Yorkshire with signal i use phones and mobile internet on Three network .This is a great deal .
#4

pretty suprised at the coverage with this so far, PLEASANTLY as it works well where my mobile on vodaphone struggles :P. I bought the 12gb pre-loaded from dixons (including free express delivery- posted on here a week back) for £69.99. better value if you think you will use more data, and last 12 months as opposed to 3. Just an alternative :)

Mines working brilliantly well. It's as quick as my home broadband (which admittedly is only 3MB). Very impressed for 30 quid.

How much data can you get out of these on like a 15 pound top up?

I like to stream videos and go on sports websites quite often...

Do you mean, how much data do you get for the price of £15?

This looks a good deal but I wouldn't rely on 3's own coverage checker.
Have a look here instead http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/ as you can then see if there are any mobile masts in your area and who owns them.
It can be slightly out of date but it's better than all the networks own coverage checkers.

Have used three, in Essex, wiltshire, devon and always got got signal, but I would not use for downloading you quickly go through the allowance.
#14
I have this, I'm coming to the end of an 18 month contract with them.
The coverage was awful to begin with but it seems to be a lot better now.
#15
I really wish these didn't have a time limit on when you have to use it by, (or at least a much longer one) I need one just for occasional visits to my mums house where theres no Internet connection.

when you connect with this dongle does it give you a static ip addresse ?

3 have the best coverage of any mobile broadband provider... and once they've finished merging networks with T-mobile (early 2010) both networks plus the respective VMNO's (Virgin etc.) will be impossible to beat for 3G

Agrees. You can't state it's rubbish coverage just because it happens to be poor for you. In case it's of any use to anybody, connectiona nd speed has been fine for me in Lincoln, Gateshead and in my village in County Durham.

Voted Hot

Just picked one up today, i got the Huawei E1550 modem .... yet when i look on the three.co.uk website they seem to now use the ZTE627 (with a green outline) ... is one modem 'better' than the other ..... i have coverage but according to the 3 connect software I keep alternating between 3G and HSDPA with the modem staying in the same location! So far so good!

The coverage will depend on where you live, some places 3 are the best some the worst.

This is the same price at The Carphone warehouse, but they will be able to check coverage for you before you buy.

3 have a three day return policy, if the coverage isn't up to expectation you can get a full refund.
#24
do they do one day topups like o2? i don't wanna pay £10 for a month's worth when i'll probably only use it once in a month
#25
If you use Quidco or Topcashback you can get this for £40 - £20 = £20. Always a slight risk you won’t get the cashback but if it doesn’t track you can always return it for a refund.

Posted via my 3 USB dongle.

Or you can get 5GB on a 1 month contract for £25 inc £10 for the dongle and get £24 Topcashback.
Just what I need as I'm flat sitting with no broadband for a month and my 1GB contract isn't enough. I just need the SIM so I'll sell the Dongle and make a profit and have a free 5GB allowance extra. :)
#27
If you bargain with 3 they do a monthly contract, @ £4.74 a month for 1 gb, but this may be to only retain exsisting customers?. I obtained this at the conclusion of a contract. Halved the cost I had been paying.

good deal (heat added) although Three-reception is poor, so check reception before purchase http://threestore.three.co.uk/broadband/

??? Orange are merging with T-mobile,

3 shop around for their VMNO contracts, aren't they with both O2 and Orange in different parts of the country now?????

I heard 3 are likely to join O2

---Can I apologies, I posted above links for '3 coverage tester' please do not read there actual results unless you plan to be outside and standing still 24/7 for reception :p --deduct at least one levels for the average signal/coverage. Also help to have the dongle flat with logo pointing up, and with a little extension for the best possible signal... there are other tips hopefully someone will mention them
#31
do these dongles work abroad? cheers
#32
