Anyone recommend this company?

I used them for 2 months, a month on the trial and a month paying. The trail went very well. Got everything I wanted and then decided to go for another month. After the trial period everything went down. The items on my list weren't arriving as fast as during the trial period. But I did have very new items on my list (just been released).

Overall I would say they have been a lot better than other rental companies like iLoveFilm and others.

Thanks, I've signed up now anyway! Thanks bazr  Rep on the way :)

Used them when they first started out approx a couple of years back.Excellent service.Used them again 2 months ago, again very good service. Will use them again now with this new offer.Would never recommend staying with any one company as they nearly always try to get you back with offers, but if i had to reccomend one to stay with and actually pay a monthly fee,i think this would probably be the one, with Blockbuster a close second.Let's hope they can avoid getting taken over by the dreaded Lovefilm. :)

Thanks bazr and RubberJabber :) Also for the feedback both ;-)

My £5 quidco.com cashback has tracked as well, so I'm well happy with this deal!!

I wold rate them somewhere in the middle. They are much better than Lovefilm for promptness and not sending damaged disks, but in my experience were nowhere near as good as Blockbuster.

They tended to turn round the disks quite quickly but I never got any of the new releases DVDs. Its a pretty good deal though and worth considering if you are not desperate for new releases.

signed up 3 months for £7.99 can't be to bad.

I'm getting a little screwed by them atm; tried to cancel a while back after a free trial, but they "hadn't received outstanding discs in time", then they tried to take money from me but couldn't (no idea why, I have the money, details are correct) so suspended my account, but they still sent me a DVD and are now saying they can charge me £30 for that disc & take legal action. Have emailed and am awaiting a response...

blockbuster > this

I completely hammer these things though sending back on the day I get etc, blockbuster never pulled me up for it but these guys would hold my next rentals for 2-3 days

I ahve same problem with MyMoviestream.

I generally send back next day and it takes at least 2 days to show as recieved by them, then another 2-3 days to get the next DVDs out.

So I guess they have some unwritten FUP (fair use policy)

Yep I agree they are pants..been with them twice and turnaround is slow and the film selection very limited....doubt I'll ever use them again but maybe worth it for those that have yet to take advantage of the quidco fiver.

Horrible service. Joined them in November, but due to really slow service, I cancelled in three weeks to ensure that the final disc got back in time, and I got proof of posting.

Instead of cancelling; they "suspended" the account, and left it active, and took another month's money. In JANUARY they claimed they hadn't received the final dvd, after I realised they took an extra month's money.

I'm still waiting for the promised refund cheque.

Be warned, they didn't inform me that any dvd was "missing", nor could I tell at the web-site, I only found out by phoning them in January!!

They seem very keen on obtaining "proof of posting" for your final dvd, meaning they can either screw you for not getting one (as they did to someone else that posted in this thread), or screw Royal Mail by claiming for a "lost" disc.

If you have joined, my advice is get proofs of posting often, send the final dvd/s back by Recorded Delivery, and send it back a week early at least. Also, contact your bank to ensure an extra month's money is not taken.

Can only stress that when cancelling with any dvd rental company to keep checking that the account has actually been cancelled and that they have all the dvd's back.I make a point of getting proof of posting with every dvd that i send back and as aaronite says when you send the final dvd back, send it recorded,(it only costs 68p) and it has to be signed for at their end, ensuring that it is received and acknowledged by them. One
thing that i do when i intend to cancel,is to empty my queue (so they can't send me another dvd) before my final dvd is received by them and only cancel my account when they have it.As for the slow service with MM,i can only say that my service was excellent, but i think it depends on your choices.I had a lot of oldish tv series in my list.If you only have new titles, then i think they may struggle to supply everybody as their database will be nowhere near the size of BB. :)
For an average cost of £3.65 a month (after quidco) for the 3 months it still represents excellent value for money even if you get a slow service.

I got my first DVDs yesterday. I was a bit annoyed that they sent all 3 in the one envelope, with no spare envelopes, meaning I have to watch them all before I can return them. There does not seem to be a place on the website where you can request more envelopes, like you can with Lovefilm, so I emailed customer services asking for more.

I wouldn't be happy if they keep doing that, as I want to watch one, then pop it in the post right away. I have my exams at the minute, so may not watch them very fast, but even so, I'd like to get my money's worth!

When i used them last (nov/dec)they always sent the 3 together, but it was 3 envelopes taped together, which could be separated and sent individually.I used to do the same with my returns to ensure that they all arrived together.

Nope just checked, definitely only 1 envelope :?

Just found the below passage in their 'How it works' page.It is quite confusing:
Your DVDs will be delivered and returned in batches of 2 or 3 per envelope (e.g. on the 4 disc unlimited package, you will receive 2 envelopes with 2 discs in each and will be required to return the discs in pairs, 2 per envelope) With the '2 disc unlimited' and '3 disc unlimited' packages there is a degree of flexibility with the amount of DVDs you can return at any one time i.e. send just one DVD back to us and we'll send you a new one from your list. However, if you return the maximum amount of DVDs, as specified by your package, in one return mailer, you will be prioritised higher for DVDs in heavy demand. With all of our packages, DVDs that are in high demand are highlighted in special priority sleeves. We encourage you to watch these first, and send them back as soon as possible, as a single DVD return, in the priority return mailer. Returning priority DVDs will not affect your position with regards to high demand titles.

So they are basically saying if you post all DVDs in one envelope (costing them less money) they will prioritise you for new releases... doesn't seem terribly fair. :? We'll see how it goes anyway. :)
#21
Seems like the only discs you can return individually are the ones they want back quickly for other members,Quote:
When you have a priority New Release disc,we ask you to return this as soon as possible for the benefit of other Members, and may be returned individually in the priority return mailer.
Suggest you use another method of 'watching' the dvd's as quickly as possible and get them all back together to maximise your rental time.:whistling:

Has anyone tried contact there customer suppot....

iv tried three times now...now response it just goes through to voice mail.

whats that about/?>

So I've been with these guys a few weeks now. The turnaround time isn't terribly fast, but it's a good service if you really want the new releases. They have sent me new releases from the top of my list, such as Nacho Libre and Snakes on a Plane. With "snakes" they sent a priority return envelope, so they could get it back quicker.

I'm not really enamoured with this one envelope thing though, as I'm going through 4 - 5 days at a time with no new DVDs... whereas with Lovefilm, I'd watch one, post it, and have received a new one by the time I'd watched the next 2 (mostly).

Still, I'm happy enough for a fiver a month, getting about 3 DVDs a week to watch :-D
