Errrm, unless you have tried then be quiet. I have had the xbox 360 since the day it came out and, in COD MW2 often found games that crashed, yet I haven't had one game stop on me on the PSN... and that is from a die hard xbox fan. As Lipton say "Don't knock it until you've tried it!"...

Yes that is the only thing I have found, I've seen that a few times where they are doing some kind of work to it, but I don't play as much now as I did on the Xbox so I have not been on today to notice.

could really do with this, mine runs out soon, had the reminder email a couple weeks ago, but ITS NOT SHOWING ON MY DARN DASH!!

ffs..

good deal, mins is running out in a few months (i thought it was may but i remembered getting 1 month free with a game at some point) but have just bought the £30 for 12 months and free cod tee that i dont even want, from sainsburys. should i not use the code until i run out, see if they make an offer and then take the offer, and then add my 12 months on right after? is that allowed?

You're quite obviously insane.

I have both systems, ps3 for exclusives, xbox for everything else. xbox wins hands down for online functionality and anybody who says otherwise is quite clearly delusional.

I'm sorry that you cannot afford the 50p per week for your xbox live subscription. Maybe if you saved your money on buying things on the PSN which are all usually £2-3 more expensive than the exact same thing on the 360, you would be able to afford it.

When the gold ran out we got offered this, £6 for 3 months, but didn't bite, then got the £24 for 12 months offer. After much begging from a 10 year old we went for that.

Owned a 360 for 4 years and COD MW2 since the day it came out, not a single crash. PSN is free yes, but XBL is much better. I mean u dont even get a headset with a ps3 lol.

Before you say it, yes i do have a ps3..i enjoy Killzone 3 mp and other exclusives. But the social capabilites of XBL outdo anything PSN has done so far.

Oh yeah, for sure that goes without saying, XBL has a much nicer feel to it and is far better for communicating. However to communicate with my friends I simply pick up the phone or drive round to their house... I don't feel the need to listen to little kids, or Americans, talking sh1t on the other end of their mic so to that end PSN is perfect for me as there are hardly any little rejects going on and on... and as I said the stability for me so far has been much better, and I run a decent broadband set-up before anyone says that...

I didn't say anything about the functionality of XBL - the whole system has a much nicer feel to it, I have said that to friends already, the whole dashboard system (Especially when it comes to having friends) on the Xbox is way better than the PS (looks like a complete after thought) but at the same time, I don't buy anything from the PSN so can't comment on that, though I did notice that they have alot of the old PS1 games available which is cool, I'm not particularly bothered about the namby pamby feel of the system because when you get down to it it's all about the games which have been running for me far better than on XBL. Halo3, CODMW2, Red Dead, F1 etc... All of them have had points where I've been in the middle of games when they crash or you get lobbied... especially games like COD so, as I haven't had that at all on the PS3 yet I am happy... I also like the media side of the PS3, it connects to my PC far better than having to cable up my xbox around the house and obviously the Blu-Ray helps...

Yes, I can see how your experiences of once having a game crash on the xbox means you think the PSN is better. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm that, as my PSN has been down for over a day, and is still down. This occurs fairly regularly.

Given the choice of a service that kicks me out of a game once every so often, or a service that is down for days at a time, the choice is fairly obvious.

Games that 'crash'? Never seen it. Games where you get 'lobbied'? Thats usually down to the person hosting it quitting/connection dropping, and if you're saying thats unique to XBL, then you are indeed confirmed insane I'm afraid.

Don't want to listen to kids screaming away? Easy, set your settings to mute everyone but friends.

Don't want to run a cable up to your xbox? Fine, get the 802.11n wireless adapter. At least you can then actually stream HD video to your console properly, as the PS3's 802.11g adapter isn't capable of it without stuttering/buffering. I have exactly the same media functionality with both xbox/ps3 and which one I use depends on which one I have turned on at the time. Except for BBC iplayer, good effort on that one, sony (although I don't use it)

Everything that Sony have done on PSN, just looks like they have ripped bits off of XBL then badly stapled it all together. Don't even get me started on 'trophies'.

The only reasons I have a PS3, are for blu-ray, exclusive titles (GT5/GOW3/Killzone3 mostly) and as you say, there are a couple of cool PS1 titles available. Apart from that, I'm afraid there is absolutely zero about the entire console that makes it worth having above the xbox.

Oh, and the joypad is better for beat-em-ups. Thats genuinely everything.

But you wouldnt have a team based match by picking up the phone up to your friends? You would still need to communicate to your team via xbl's party mode or in match mode. If you drove to your friends house for fps gaming they must have a really good lan setup going on?

I really dont get why your crashing frequently on the games you mentioned because those games rarely have any problems unless the host quits.

Infact the problems of the ps3 have even been reported by the bbc:

good deal hot, but the only thing is that you can no longer turn of the auto renewal on xbox.com. I got the deal, phoned up to turn it off since that is the only way to do it now but they offered me the same deal, 3 months for 6 quid when my current 3 months is up so not to bad at all.

Look, I am just giving my opinion and everybody is different, there is no need to try and be a sarcastic nob as I clearly said that on numerous occasions I have had problems with games like COD... Yes half of them are due to hosts quitting games but 'Dashboarding' is so prominent on the Xbox it's unreal.

The PSN has been hacked, what are you gonna do, that could just the same happen the XBL, it just happens that some little computer nerds have a hard one for Sony at the moment.

As I have said, there are lots of things I like about the Xbox but when I look at it none of those things really matter to me anymore... I got bored of the points, who cares about trophies etc I had 52,000 game points on the Xbox which when I think about it just kept me playing crap games for the sake of it... So I no longer pay attention to that. I have said it was nice to have a better system for communicating with friends but, again, I'm not 15 - I keep my friends list down to people I actually know and as an adult I know people have far better things to do with their lives than playing COD all the time so have no urge to think that a) To play games well I desperately need to talk to other people or b) To have a social life I desperately need to talk to my friends via the xbox.

Once again to have to buy a wireless adapter for the xbox just seemed ridiculous saying the PS3 has always had it built in, it is a complete matter of principle that I won't pay the price Microsoft want you to for the things they leave out on purpose.

...and if you want to get technical about things like PSN being down and not being able to play then lets get on to the fact that I have had the 360 since it came out and have always kept on a good model i.e. never bought a core etc... 4 Times my 360s have been back to Microsoft (at 2 weeks a pop)... 3 RROD and 1 Harware error. Out of everyone I know with an Xbox I haven't heard of 1 that hasn't had some kind of problem - often the latest (and my final problem) being the DVD drives being absolute tosh.

Swings and roundabouts pal...

It's really awkward to cancel the automatic renewal - I tried to do it online but they do not give you the option - you have to ring up their service desk and wade through all the sales pitch etc. before they will do it. I found it loads of hassle.

I had seen these deals on here before but never had any appear on the dashboard. Just found out why the setting needed changing from family to standard to see the offers !! Just signed up for the £6 deal, thanks. Must ring X box live on 0800 587 1102 to turn off auto renewal at £5.99 a month ! And get a better 12 month deal.
