please no debate about which netbook is best (nc10, or dell mini, etc etc, this does get boring now)

this netbook though is not half as nice a screen as a lovely Samsung NC10 :?

no wait... it has a poor battery life compared to the brilliant MSI Windy Advent Medion 2411 x  :? no, hang on I mean, it doesnt comapre to the awesome SSD speeds of the Dell Mini 9 with upgraded 32Gb STEC ssd (os x baby machine) although ...

...you know, having chewed on my dentures a bit longer, maybe I prefer the Texas Instruments subnotebook Speak n Spell with its awe-inducing lack of VGA out (or in) and S Hawking audio technology.

decisions , decisions! :p

At PCWorld you can get an Advent 4211c with a Vodafone deal for £20 pcm.

Not saying this is better, but 3 does get an awful lot of flak. Not much to choose between the two netbooks. The 4211 has a larger HDD 160GB vs 60GB, otherwise similar spec.

"skint university student looking to buy this deal for my assignments"

Is the compaq mini really gonna be enough to do your assignments on? You might find that a 'proper' laptop will be more useful for about £250-£300 (or even cheaper if its used) and if you have any housemates etc. share a cable/ adsl broadband connection with them. Even cheaper will be to use a PC instead of a laptop.

Personally, I think nearly £18/m for 24 months for 'netbook' and a 1GB/m data bundle is WAY ott - even if it is mobile. probably in about 12 months time the price will have halved and/or the allowance will have doubled.

If its critical that you have this, then you won't be worried about the price you pay - you'll just get it. Otherwise, stay well clear for now.
