3' Single Mattress £24.00 @ Mothercare
While looking for a small single mattress for occasional use, I found this standard (3') single mattress for £24.00.
The solitary review for it isn't exactly glowing, and may well explain why it's so cheap - but for £24.00 with free delivery (or in-store collection) it may help someone out. Unfortunately won't be purchasing one myself though as only have room for a 2'6" mattress.

As with any mattress you really need to try them out in the shop
I got a shorty mattress of ebay, there are budget ones for about this price i got one for around £39 with free delivery and its been great
Yes it might be a bit springy, and wouldn't be good for everyday use by anyone weighing over five stone, but its perfect for a spare room, and ideal for mother in laws when they come to stay... well you wouldn't want them to be too comfortable!

I just wanted something cheap and cheerful for visitors to sleep on. In the end, I went to a local charity furniture warehouse in Basingstoke and picked up a second hand 2' 6" mattress for £10. It's very thin, and I wouldn't want to sleep on it long term, but it's good condition, and probably better than the alternatives of a camp bed or a lilo, so am happy with my purchase :)
