Thanks Beno, amended the link :)

For what it's worth, this has tracked in Quidco at £11.78 for me... not sure where the extra 78p came from!
#6
Port a number to 3 (free SIM) and get another £10 in credit.
#7
Hot deal H+R added.

Quidco popup clearly states "Cashback will not be paid where a voucher is used". So might not be wise to try to combine Quidco with the £10 accessory voucher. Although the livechat CS said different, he dint seem to know much anyway!
#8
Just dont depend on the quidco guys, i didnt use vouchers or anything when i bought the s2 skype phone, but for some reason they declined to pay the 11.78.
#9
Has anyone had success or failure using 3's accessory voucher with quidco?
#10
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I get this phone I can use Skype + MSN for free even if I've used up all the credit?

HI
I have this phone bought 2nd hand and my son uses it for free skype to skype and free msn to msn with not a penny topped up had it now for a few months (saved me a few bob) though skype tp skype quality not that great as it goes through 3 network first then skype

Threes coverage is pretty dire.

My phone was meant to drop to 2G when the three network was unavailable - but this meant they had to pay Orange for the calls, so the firmware prevented it happening.

Both three phones we had declined to work in the two postcodes we had checked with them prior to buying.

You get stuck trying to fix things with people in india who cost three pennies to argue with you until you go away.

Eventually I got my contract ended when they admitted their coverage map (was not the real one and we have an interactive one that shows the real coverage - but its OK for us to show the other on the site - as it states it is not accurate).

If you know there is three coverage where you intend to use the phone then go for it - as the skype feature is great - but don't chance it from their coverage maps.

ALSO - the say you can return a mobile within two weeks if there are issues - BUT their small print says you cannot return it once the sim has gone in.

Bear in mind guys that
the battery life on the S1 is quite bad if you have singed into skype all the time.

The battery gets drained even more if you have a poor reception in your area.. {v likely with 3 network :roll:}

Sold out.

Back again... refurbs this time though... maybe they found some down the back of the sofa.

Not sure about MSN, but Skype is free for life:-

"From the 1st May 09, there will be no data charges or top-up fees to use Skype on 3 in the UK. Whether you’re a contract or pay-as-you-go customer, you’ll be able to make unlimited Skype-to-Skype calls from your 3 mobile without paying a penny. No more minimum monthly top-ups, just free calls.
Later this summer, 3 will be introducing a new SIM, priced at just £1.99, which will bring free Skype-to-Skype calls to anyone in the UK with an unlocked compatible phone – all you’ll have to do is pop the SIM in, download Skype from 3, and you’ll be free to make as many Skype-to-Skype calls as you like without worrying about cost."

Ad if you do top up you get 150mb internet access which should cover MSN:-

Free internet access on your mobile
As well as free texts you get 150MB of free mobile internet with every top-up.

> Find out more about using the mobile internet on your mobile

What does 150MB give me?
It’s enough to check Facebook over 100 times a day, or tweet 1,600 times every day for 90 days. If you use up your free internet allowance we’ll text you and let you know. To get another 150MB free, just top-up again.

You'll have a hard job using up the free 150MB you get every time you top-up. But if you do run out you can just top-up again to get another 150MB free. Or you can get great value mobile internet with an Internet Add-on.

Cheers, I actually ordered the Skypephone S2 in the end.
Pretty nice phone and is gonna work out way cheaper than my old Virgin PAYG, plus I now have free texts internet/MSN/Skype etc

One thing that's worth noting because I hadn't seen it anywhere (admittedly I didn't research much before buying) is that you can't use Skype to dial UK phone numbers, only overseas and normal Skype contacts.
But still a great deal as I can now call my relatives in Australia while out and about and don't have to sit in front of a pc to do so.

cant find the phone

It's gone. :? S2 is there.

Does the S1 or S2 have a facebook app? Are they the best phones for PAYG on three? There are a couple of others with similar prices.

One thing I would suggest if you are worried about the signal strength being poor in your area is to first order one of their free sims from the website and just put it in your current phone providing it's unlocked.

Another thing, if you top up online using my3, you get double the free texts. So you get 600 free texts lasting 90 days, which is excellent IMO.

I really think three is the best network for PAYG if your in a good area for coverage. I just like it that you have 90 days to use up your freebies instead of the usual 30.

My Quidco was declined, too, but I just submitted an earnings enquiry and it has just been validated.

I also bought the same mobile via CBK and it didn't track, so I have had to submit a manual claim.

A cynic might suspect that there are some deliberate tracking problems with Three.

worth the money if quidco pays
#30
It's gone!
#31
My quidco from the S2 when that was at £39.99* has paid out £11.78 within the last week

* technically is still is £39.99 now for the S2 except they make you buy it with a £10 topup included bringing the total price to £49.99.
#32
mumbojumbo
Yep, you're wrong :-D

He is right look at the three advertising, Skype and MSN is always free and there is no need to ever top up, all you need is a 3G phone and a Skype and MSN are happy to work with.
#33
Would anyone recommend upgrading from the S2 at £49.99 to the Sony Ericcson G502 or INQ1 at £69.99? Are they really worth the extra £20?
#34
An OK phone but the texting will drive you crazy there's a bug in the firmware and you end up inserting words that are names in your address book. I wouldn't buy it again (but its great for Skype).
#35
Maybe I will just go for the Sony phone then. Probably a lot better.

Surely that's a feature - it drive's me insane when I am sending a text using T9 and I have to swap back to ABC input to put a friend's name in.:whistling:

Its a particularly poor phone for texts and does it get HOT in use. Otherwise its competent no more, as above Skype is good though.
#38
I bought 2 Skype phones in July via Quidco under 2 separate transactions and already received 2 x £11.78 :D
#39
I bought 2 S2. Not bad. But then I'm only using it for free Skype calls

Indeed it does. Thats why I'm buying another one... (no, seriously, that's one of my buying points, along with the magnetic back cover - great for playing with one hand when bored)
