i preferred the S1...was much more appealing. :) I think the £100 mark even for 2 is still a bit steep. :)

Do you both need to be in a 3G area for it to work?

Yes both needs to be in 3G area to work.

Instead of paying 50 quid for the each phone, get a 6 months contract 6x15 = 90 minus 32.5 (quidco) = £57.5

For £7 more, getting 300 minutes for 6 months

I don't feel happy asking such a basic question, but my old boss told me that someone who asks a stupid question looks stupid for 5 minutes, someone who doesn't ask is stupid forever :)

Do you need to have a wireless connection for the skype to skype free calls, or can you also do it on this magical 3G omnipreseent internet cloud? What if one is in 3Gland and one isn't?

I feel worse now I've asked ;-)

The way 3 handle the skype client on these phones is a little different from other networks. With 3 when you make a skype call with the embedded software you actually make a normal call (uncharged) on the 3 network which they then reroute via skype at their end, it doesn't work over wifi at all.

The person you are calling does not have to be on the 3 network, they only need a skype phone of some kind.

In theory it is great as you can make free skype calls forever without paying a topup or having a contract. In practice for me at least the signal where I live is no good for 3 so its worth checking on that first with someone who has a 3 phone near you, don't use their webpage to find coverage as it says my reception should be good and it is none existent
