Don't buy it!

Firmware error means it will continuously switch itself off.

I don't know how Trading Standards are still allowing them to sell this!!!

i have this phone, use it for texts only really. get 600 for 3 months from three for £10 so i only need to top up 40 quid a year. problem with the phone is it crashes after you use any of the web features, including skype. if you accidentally launch skype it will crash within an hour or so. so if you find whenu come to your phone and nothing works and it wont even turn on take the battery out put it back in and turn it on it will work fine again.

phone only crashes when u use the net or skype everything else is fine. and when i say crash i mean once u have closed it down. the camera is rubbish at night so dont bother.

i am voting this hot and giving rep cos for a texting phone and with the offer three do for this phone its really really good value for money. i can charge it up using a mini usb cable and plugging it into my xbox which doesnt even have to be on it still charges. microsd is excellent and cheap and the only way to transfer things on to your computer is to use the cable supplied so dont lose it.

hope this helps people, its a really good texting phone.

My son has one and as far as i can see it's a great phone - heat from me
#4
it only switches itself off when you finish using the web or skype, and its not an instant switch off it could be an hour or so later. it actually doesnt go off it just freezes. taking the battery out and putting it back in lets you turn it on again. predictive text stays off for me :) maybe yours is broken in a worse way. i dont use the web or i know that after i do its best just to restart the phone to avoid it freezing.
#5
I never had any problem with it so far. excellent phone if you only want to use it for skype....that too without ever recharging....get a free sim from 3:thumbsup:

Short suplly in Sheffield, but Ive bought one as a spare. I have the S2 and I think its a great phone, I tend to use Skype more than normal calls

Thumbs up from me

excellent phone, I take advantage of the 600 texts over 3/12 for £10. Well worth it just for the free skype and numerous cheap texts.

I love my phone

This phone is shyte. It's fun for using skype - but don't rely on this phone, it hangs and switches itself off for no reason. The only way to reset it is to take the battery out. Use it for free skype by all means, but if you are looking for a reliable phone, avoid it. Battery life is rubbish too.
#9
Looking for a skype phone... not sure if I want this one.

Heat added!
#10
I have this phone. I got it for a bit less from 3 using Quidco. I only use it as an MP3 player and camera so I cannot comment on the other features.

mumbojumbo
Lol. Now I know you're talking about the wrong phone. ;-) This is the S2.

Certainly doesn't happen with the S1 either.

quidco seems £18, it isn't guaranteed and the phone is a refurb - I would prefer brand new

I got one of these phones, they are FANTASTIC for the price. Add to the fact that if you top up you get 150MB of free internet as well as free skype to skype calls for 3 months and free skype calls forever you can't beat it.
#18
I use this as my main phone and do reccomend if you have good coverage for 3G, msn is free and skype is free.... and you never have to top up... its great for people who have a lot of contacts on msn and skype. Skype voice quality is passable depending on coverage but all in all a nice phone. Supports up to 4gb.

EDIT: I use my mobile for IRC if people know what that is here and it would take me months of using every day to fill up the free 150MB you get when topping up.

good phone my first 3 phone, very worth it! heat from me!

Skype to Skype data is free on the 3 network, whether or not you top up the phone. You can use it to SkypeOut (e.g. Skype to International landline/mobile) using Skype Credit, but not to SkypeOut to the UK (which is cheaper using the normal phone mode anyway!) Note also no WI-FI, so all Skype traffic on this phone is over the 3G network.

I was pleasantly surprised by this phone, impressive feature set for the price.

Shame 3 Quidco has never paid out for me (always told the money went to another referrer - never had a problem with any other company, clean browser before click through etc). Will see whether they honour for my INQ Mini 3G of Mi-Fi (DAMN YOU HUKD)...

Using MSN and Skype is free, the apps are built into the phone. The data allowance is used only if you surf the web using the browser or use the web feeds app.

3 PAYG is good value for the money ........ only drawback being the 20p per min charge for calls to landlines/non 3 phones.

The Quidco pay out is far from certain. Apparently I used a voucher, complete BS ...... 3 don't pay out ..... at least for phones at this price point, congrats to anyone who got paid the £18 on the S2, u got a gr8 deal!..
#24
I always call abroad so I use inq1(similar to this phone) for skype only which is free
No chance I will use it as main phone, it is hidious compared to any £1000+ phone
The battery might be rubbish, but for skype only it is almost better than any phone on the planet! Try using N97 or iphone to keep skype online for a entire night to see is it completely drained? With skype activated this one could stay on for like 1.5 days which is very good.

By the way you can get batteries from power sellers on fleabay for like a fiver delivered, which is good :)

Oh, I must have read the mobile broadband. Even so at £17 for a refurb or £22 for brand new, wouldn't you be willing to take the risk?

If I get quidco OR not - the MAXimum I can pay is £39.99, only £5 more than argos. Well worth the risk that quidco pays out (its not quidco - it's 3 who cheat you, never had problems with anyone except these conmen!)

I placed a order last night and there is no sign of it on quidco I had placed two orders with esave and they tracked straight away.

It stated on quidco I have to wait two weeks to find out whats happened? By that time I think it may be too late to cancel / send back the phone to 3? Can anyone confirm ?
#28
Three never paid my quidco either - they are shysters.
#29
Well in that case - they can keep the phone just emailed them to cancel the order.
NO sign of it in quidco at all !
#30
I saw it in quidco alright - just they never paid in the end.

Tracking varies between the various traders and payment processors. The phone needs to be back in Three's hands before the 14 days expire.

I can certainly confirm this. I bought a used S1 and got a free, new unused PAYG sim that has never been topped up (0 credit) and call my girlfriend in the US from the mobile completely free (she has a dual Skype/landline phone). One of the best purchases I ever made.

Buy your family a bunch of these, get a completely free PAYG SIM, sign up to Skype and they can talk free 'forever'.

Only downside is 'relatively' poor Three network coverage in UK and atrocious 'Indian call centre' customer service (3 recently published a Skypephone update that broke most phones resulting in an utter farce and complete confusion for weeks).

I have bought three phones from 3 via quidco.

All tracked - two were later cancelled - only one has paid - and one of the cancelled ones was reinstated but has not been paid (from March or April).

I have earned about £2000 from Quidco - and reset cookies on a browser dedicated for Quidco use before buying, so have had very few issues. I think three has made up 30-40% of cashback claims I had to write to quidco about - and only two others (one that never tracked - and one that lost details) have never been paid out.

The three network is also dire in so many places. But this phone is great to use for skype upstairs - but has no signal downstairs unless standing at a window.

Its a very nice phone - feels solid - has a good sized screen - but uses tiny writing.

A good addition is the 4gig card from Morrisons for £5 - this is the max card size it takes. It works well for playing music - although I have not tried video. It call strength beats my Nokia on 3 by miles. BUT THE 3 NETWORK COVERAGE IS PRETTY DIRE - WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY THEY HAVE TO OFFER FREE VOICEMAIL.

When checking coverage in your area - borrow a three mobile - DONT believe the three coverage map. They eventually ended my contract as they knew there was no cover in my last house - yet their maps said there was the highest quality data and voice. However the selling team use the same map as is on the site - but the ones you complain to have a map with the real coverage.

When I complained to them about this - they said there was a disclaimer on their site saying the coverage map was not accurate - so it was not grounds to complain (that you had bought a contract from them that you could not use.)

Lastly - three CS are dire. You have no idea of the crap you have to put up with - and if they are paying their staff 40p an hour - its nothing to pay someone 80p to mess you about hoping you will go away.
#34
ibiza I've had the same problems with quidco as yourself, three paid £20 just fine, but didn't honour the £11 from before and like you I have a dedicated browser, no antivirus or anti-spyware (Linux) and never had problems! Three are doing it deliberately.

Their CS is dire, however their signal I've not had problems where I live. But I've been steering clear of them, at one point I had 4 contracts with them now it's only one, which I wish to cancel and move over to Orange(because of £150 quidco) or Vodafone or O2.

The phone is however very nice looking and considering that a Nokia 2630 is in a similar price range, this really puts it into perspective, at £17 for this phone you simply cannot go wrong.

Oh and I ordered the Mifi from them and they didn't even deliver it, canceled the order I bet without even telling me!

Sorry, was reffering to Three directly as this thread seems to be dedicated to them now.
