Hi, am I right in thinking this makes a one lighter power point into a 3 way one so i could have my Sat Nav and the kids DVD players in the back of the car all from this one plug then? If so please can someone let me know and will order for our holidays thanks:thumbsup:

Yes, that's exactly what it does, however you cannot order these they are instore only, Aldi do not have an online shopping facility. These offers are first come first served on the day of sale, some popular offers sell out fast as well.

looks good. voted hot.

Not in white yuk ugly thing i wouldn't have it in the car.Is there a black one too.

Also, could be used with iphone / ipod cable to charge; and a hell of a lot cheaper than most iphone chargers.

Heat and rep, thanks

Try Dealextreme.com.
They have it in black and also with few other options.
Delivery free but takes a few days to travel across the sea.

Would it actually charge an ipod/iphone? I found my ipod to be very fussy about using any charger other than the official apple ones.

However, this will do nicely for me. Wanted something that I could plug my Sat Nav into and charge my HTC Desire via USB. Shame about the colour but I will put up with it

It is also going to be in black as that was the colour on the instore poster.

Mmm, good that its got the USB so you can charge your phone with the PC cable (if it supports it) but the current output on the cigarette light socket is not amazingly high so not sure if you will get 3 things actually working off it ;/
Worth a punt if you can get it in black, the white looks awful!

no, it wont charge an ipod/iphone, apple being di cks, you could modify it with this layout:

Thats iphone, I can charge my ipad but have found you need at least 1000ma, most only output 500ma which is not enough for my ipod. I doubt this will output 1000ma.

EDIT: see OP has put 500ma, which is not enough for my ipod

I've got one of these from dealxtreme and it's decent enough quality, I've actually got my headunit wired in to it as the stereo's permanent live went screwy on my van and I couldn't be bothered tracing the fault - 2 months and it's not set on fire yet!!!

Just be aware this is rated to 500mA only, so check the ratings on all items you are wanting to use.

Can I balance that by saying usually about a week, sometimes longer, but rarely two or more "weeks" (as I have bought a few times from Deal Extreme). For me items always arrived, never lost, sometimes though not the best quality but "you get what you pay for".

Having said that, if you have now seen this product and realised your life has been empty without it, you will obviously want to speed down to get it at Aldi immediately and will not want to wait a day longer than you have to.

With volcanic ash due to close airports again this week, you can say weeks,

daft question (maybe?)- does using chargers such as this use up more petrol than if you were not using a charger? haven't got a clue about cars so not sure if car battery constantly recharges itself or if it impacts onthe fuel consumption. Could do with this for satnav, mobile and work blackberryas I do a fair bit of driving around the country. rep to whoever answers!

No, I wouldn't worry about an increase in fuel consumption. The figures are microscopic!:whistling:

I'd agree that it makes very little practical difference, but then I'm reminded of the Top Gear episode where Clarkson drove from London to Edinburgh and back on a single tank of diesel, but had to have EVERYTHING turned off. Even the radio.
#24
Just to let you know. Aldi Have got white and black ones, just got back now.
It 'DOES NOT' charge the 3GS (original or £1 land Cable).....happy hunting...

I would think that it is the USB output that is limited to 500mA, not the 'normal' sockets

Does not have enough power to charge a TomTom, nor run anything else it seems.
Sorry to say that I will be taking mine back and going back to the old one I bought off eBay which worked.
