Looks exactly like the Neet one from Amazon. If so, it is a great bit of kit and the autoswitching works well. We now have a single HDMI cable fed through our chimney breast into the back of the TV and have a wire free set up thanks to one of these devices. Great price too.

Two quid more than it was last year but still a good deal on a good piece of kit.
#3
was just looking for one of these i hope they have them in my local
#4
They had loads in Wrexham branch...dozens...
#5
fingers crossed lol :)
#6
Does this need power? I have a wee 2 to 1 that doesn't.
#7
if you look at the picture it has a 5v connector . so i'm guessing it does.
#8
just got one thanks for posting :)

Bought something similar off amazon that doesnt need any power - small black box and it works just fine, sure it cost about a tenner so cold from me as you can pick these up without need for another plug socket at same sort of costs.
#10

Please confirm your facts before commenting like this - no power source is needed...

is this one an auto-switch one - i think "intelegent switch" as termed - i.e. when a new source is "turned on" it automatically switches, or is it just a manual switch one?
#13
Hmm, I'd have to say cold on this. I noticed the deal in the paper, but I bought this exact one, from Aldi's, earlier in the year for 5 pounds. Ihave never used it, and only bought it purley cos I was looking for a cheap one.
#14
cold, i bought cheaper from company called esecure on amazon recently, 10 pound delivered

Does this auto switch or must you use the remote/button on the device?
#16
Got a simpler one much cheaper on fleebay

3 port auto switcher on ebay for £5.73

Please learn to read and check what other people have stated before me in this thread - it seemed one was required, personally I didn't care enough to check the facts myself as I don't need one as I already had one - gave the source of where mine was from so people could go look for themselves there as well as from memory there we loads of alternatives on that website..

#21

#22
be good to have a confirmation on auto switching :)
#23
I have one and mine doesn't auto switch. Always use the remote, and it doesn't say auto switching on Aldi site.

Dear oh dear oh dear.
At least you are honest enough to admit you don't check your facts.

I think that is to power the ir receiver, however you should be able to switch it via the top of the switcher box without power.

Thanks for posting this deal, going to go an check out aldi tomorrow for one. I assume this passes through the CEC commands as well, ie it is wired pin for pin?? Can anyone confirm please?

cheers
no good to me as i was looking to replace my HDMI switch for an autoswitcher

Good price I got one of these from ebay in August for £13 came with a remote. Doesnt come with power and doesnt need it

It also switches automatically to whatever device you got on assuming no other devices is also switches in before hand
#28
You have to use remote or the button on it but say you use dvd player before hand and then turn everything off, then tv back on and use pvr it will switch automatically well it does on mine, ie have humax freesat hdr, blue-ray player and xbox360 on mine
#29
Can't tell from the photo so where are the other ports?
3 on the back? ( hopefully) or have they wasted everyone's time and put one on the back and one on either side?
Can anyone advise, please?
Thank you

Ok i don't wish to debate so I shall explain the facts...

1) if you review the picture again you'll see this is a dc socket...assume you know the subtle differences between ac/dc...as for why they have added this I do not know, there aren't too many hd-tv's which run off battery power as far as I am aware...

2) I just bought one...it does not need any additional power, it even says so on the box, and does not have any power adapter included...and is working on my tv now...without any additional power...

Sorry if my initial post sounded rude it wasn't the intention
#31
Also someone asked if this was an auto switcher...doesn't seem to be, either use remote or there is a button on the unit.

This might not be what some want but is great for me as I have an old pc with the tv acting as a file server (music etc) for the house hooked up to main tv along with ps3. Quite often I don't even need to see the file server on my tv, but the ps3 is often on...
#32
...and IR switching like this is much more useful if you use a Harmony remote and want reliable switching of sources when changing activity.
#33
Mine came with the extra power socket as shown in Aldi picture but it doesn't need a ac power supply it came with a magic eye thing for the remote. I just stuck the hdmi socket as its small on to back of tv and the magic eye in on display at front of the tv
#34
The HDMI connector supplies 5 volts from the source equipment (eg your DVD player) - this Aldi box uses this to drive it circuitry.

It would be best to use a power supply however as some items eg a small camera may not supply enough current to power the switchbox.

Doesn't include or need a power suplly but remember that you will need an extra HDMI lead to go from the switch box to the TV (something I forgot!)

Does anyone know of a similar thing with multiple ins and outs? I would like to choose between my PC or PS3 to be shown on either a projector or telly. Was actually thinking of getting two very cheap manual ones and trying to connect them back to back with a short HDMI lead, but one box would be much nicer...
#37
It's a bad design.
Probably by someone who will never use it.
#38
Strange that this doesnt auto switch. I have 2 absolutely identical ones that I bought from Kenable that autoswitch perfectly. In the lounge I have the PS3 and Sky HD are plugged into it. As soon as I switch the PS3 on, it auto switches to it. But I need to switch off the PS3 or use the remote to auto switch back to the Sky because if I switch that off then on it still remains on the PS3. Think some devices take preference for some reason?! Anyway, product details HERE, and you will see it is IDENTICAL! (apart from a few more pennies)
#39
To clarify, I bought the Neet one from Amazon for £20. This looks absolutely identical so probably rebadged. IF SO (and I do emphasise that point) it is autoswitching but you can manually overide it. For instance I have a DVD/Surround on HDMI3 and a PS3 on HDMI2. If I out the PS3 on and the sourround system both sources vie for the main picture so I get flickering and can choose input 2 with the remote. In all other cases it switched back to the last item just like SCART used to.
It runs off HDMI power. The PSU input is, again, just in case you need it...but, from what I read from reviews, no-one has needed it.
Again, this ,looks identical to the product I am speaking of. As it is Aldi, pretty sure you can take it back for a full refund if it fails in any of those features OR it actually needs a PSU and doesn't tell you.
Hot for me even though I own one...changed the way I wire all my stuff up and, in the process of looking at upgrading my stuff to use this, I got a free Virgin V+ box. Win, win.

Hell, even the remote is identical to the Neet one. Got three HDMI leads from Amazon; each for under £2 and everything looks great.
