JUst be aware that these are grade "B" units....I recently purchased a 60gb one from them, sent it back as the "slight cosmetic blemishes" turned out to be deep scratches on the back, very badly scratched near the docking port and scratches on the front. it was in worse condtion than a 2G ipod I've had for 2 years which has never been in sleve.

Not sure if Curry's have these on their site, but on some forums it was posted that the ones fom currys seem to be better condition (I thought they would come from same warehouse)

yes I had noticed that the last time Dixons had refurbs, but this is what they state now

'This is a reconditioned product and comes with a full 6 months warranty which entitles you to a full refund or exchange. A reconditioned product is a product that has been returned by a customer and has since been refurbished to new. It has been data cleansed, professionally checked and tested, and re-boxed with all applicable accessories. That means you can buy with peace of mind and make great savings.'

- I think last time it did state that they could be scratched / marked.

Hopefully these will be like new, the one I got didn't come in the Ipod box but in a in a white box which was quite big andhad a window in it so you could see the ipod...the problem was the re-sealable bag they had stuck the ipod in had come unstuck from where they had glued it and was just loose in the box

dixons rebufubs are dyer people, dyer i tell u
#6
there are refurbished nanos for 59.99

I'd pay the extra 60 notes and get that Archos Av500 posted by Edi this week - it records as well as plays back and is much more versatile overall.
#8
do these come with the protective pouch
#9
Also be aware rumours are that a new ipod will be released in September...
#10
not that attitude :(
always something better round the corner, but will you ever get it if you keep on waiting for it? :)
#11
my 5 year old ipod died this week and i'm so tempted but i'm going to hold out until after the Paris Apple Expo and see what comes out

Nope, but they do come in a re-sealable plastic bag :p

I heard a rumor that from September Apple will be selling the 30GB model for £130 and the 80GB model for £169.

This is also confirmed in the September issue of PC Retail.

Who needs 30gb anyway ?
#15
New one coming out in a month so why rush?
#16
Does new one mean more expensive?

yes the new ipod will be more expensive but the price of the ipod video will be cheaper as it will be out dated

I agree 30gb is way too much. I could fill a 30gb IPod but 90% of the songs on it would not be to my liking.

each to their own, i have an 80gb ipod and use around 50 so far

what the hell does dyer mean?

Dire?

But then you could always get the Creative 60gb Zen Vision for £159.99 at Amazon.

And yes, you can never have too much storage
#22
Might be tempted to get one of these for Christmas. Amount off means, I'd be able to get some accessories for it too! Better have a look see if there's any major clearances going on ipod accessories.
#23
New ones coming September 5th. However they'll be £179 from Apple direct (before any voucher)

Once the new ones drop then stores will literally be clearing out the old ones for £140 or less (new)
#24
Hi,
Anyone know if this will be 4th or 5th gen?
Also what is the main differences between all these gens?
Cheers,

hang on, is this another rumor mill? I was excited last time round, but all that was announced was new imacs!
#27
Now if this was a 30gb zen vision at the price I would've snapped it up immediately.
#28
Yes, to be honest, it' all about Creative Zen these days. They are great :)

In general, if you are ever buying an Apple product, whether its a Mac or an iPod always always always consult the Mac Buyers Guide. I cant stress that enough. So many people get stung because they dont use what information is out there.

Its been rumoured for months and months now that the new iPods are coming out the first week of Sept and its all but confirmed now. I think people would be a bit foolish to go buy a high end iPod a few days before they completely redo the design. Most people think that Apple are going to announce a touch screen iPod (iPhone minus the Phone part), why buy ancient clickwheel technology? ;-)
#30
the 60gb creative zen seem to be no more than, if not less, than the 30gb at the moment!

a new model coming??

(but then the 60 gb has just slimmed down to the same size as the 30gb!)

i just want it all to stop now....

Pretty much confirmed, Apple always replaces their products for the Holiday periods around this time. They get rid of surplus stock via the back to school programs where they give free iPods to Mac buying students.

Plus you can see that they've sold lots of stock to companies like Coca Cola and BT in the past for promotional goods. If you look on eBay you'll find many Coke iPods and Shuffles were given out to BT staff who didn't take days off work.

It's a no brainer, no just that but in the US major retailers have been reducing the prices of iPods ($10-20 is heavily as far as iPods are concerned).
And retailers have been reporting that shipments have been getting smaller.

If they don't announce new iPods they'll be out of stock.

iphones are pay monthly anyway so why bother?

Whats that got to do with anything? :?

I've just been reading lots of posts on people predicting that the new iPods are going to be more expensive, or are definitely going to be £179.

That's absolutely no substance to those claims. No-one knows what the details of the new ipods are going to be... the only thing certain is that a press conference has been called for Tuesday, and that its "most likely" to be an announcement of new ipods.

Off topic... students who were thinking of buying their macs through the BackToSchool promotion and thereby getting a free ipod.. wait a bit longer. The delay "could" be due to the new ipods being released. Those who know me will know my "could" implies more certainty than it seems..
#35
Is there definately a press conference for Tuesday to announce the new iPod, and are these going to be out in the next couple of weeks or so? Or is it just all rumours?

Really fancy this offer, but would also be tempted by a spanking new one with touch screen if that was what it would be

Suppose i could just get it and get a refund under warranty if the new iPodtakes my fancy a bit more

My iPod mini is dead, I should buy the 4G nano or 30G Video?

I recieved an email from Creative last night that mentioned they also had refurbished Zen Visions for sale at £94.95. The link in their email didn't work, but I managed to find it on their site in the end. It took more than a bit of digging, but here is the link:

http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/product.asp?category=111&subcategory=125&product=1514&

I'd buy one myself, (having borrowed a friends recently), as they are a fantastic piece of kit, but I am totally skint...

Dabs have got the refurbed white 30Gb iPod video for £99.99 plus postage (less 3% Quidco) - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4JH6

They had black earlier today (I managed to get one - £98.36 without VAT but including £13.83 of postage! Quidco's not tracking yet ... maybe because it's a refurb?)
