just got call from t-mobile yesterday to ask me why i ask for pac code before end of contract, I told them I want an iphone 3gs 16gb and they said to call me to give me an offer for that, however I didn't got any call from them in 2 days, so I bought one myself instead and ask for pac code to transfer number. But I didn't immediately transfer number after i got the code and wait for few days to see if they would call me to retain the customer. They did.
They ask me what kind of offer i would interested if stay. I told them I want an sim only offer, for basic phone use, no need for text and few usage of internet surfing(i use around 30mb each month). Therefore they offer me 5 quid a month for 300 min, 300 text, unlimited landline booster with unlimited internet( it is the default extra for web and walker tariff) for a 2 year contract, plus a free phone as spare one. it comes out that the free phone is HTC wildfire, with android 2.1 and HTC sense, 5mp camere with auto focus and flash, 3.2 in capative screen, gps, bluetooth 2.1 and wifi. Though it is a 2 year contract, but it is just 120 in total while the phone cost more than 229 in ebay and play.com.
So if you are in the end of contract just try to get pac code and then wait for their retention offer, you never know what may come out.
p.s. i got the phone right now, so it is a true retention offer rather than a fake call because i read post here said htc wildfire will be available to order until next month in play.com
My phone usage is quite small, just around 200 mins, less than 5 text and less than 50mb surfing each month, probably that's the reason they give me good offer. I've been with t-mobile for just 11 month, so not have to be a long time loyal customer to get it.
just checked that the price plan is 15 per month less 10 loyalty reward so i think you might get the normal contract of 15 instead of 20 per month 24 months if you want the wildfire from t-mobile
